What does the figure mean?
In the 2026 academic year, Medschool Experts placed more students at the Faculty of Medicine in Foča at the University of East Sarajevo than any other partner agency worldwide. The benchmark is the plain number of students.
The gap to the next-largest agencies from Italy and Greece is around 30 per cent. Ten students came to the location from India in the same period.
Why Foča in particular?
The location combines several points that rarely come together elsewhere. The annual fee is 3.500 Euro in human medicine and dentistry, and 2.500 Euro in nursing. It is a state faculty that also receives co-funding through international programmes.
The faculty is listed in ANABIN with the highest status, H+, and has been accredited to WFME standards since 2025, valid until 2033. Teaching is in English. In human medicine, the entire final practical year can be completed at a German teaching hospital.
What else the location offers
Foča lies on the Drina in the east of the country, directly on the edge of Sutjeska National Park. The faculty and the university hospital form one connected campus, and the town centre is two kilometres away. The nearest airport is Sarajevo, 80 kilometres away, from where Wizz Air flies to Memmingen, Dortmund, Berlin and Basel, among other destinations.

The figure is not an end in itself for us. Above all it means that we know the location and its procedures as well as almost anyone — from the admissions process through finding accommodation to later recognition. That is exactly the experience we pass on to our students.
An important point of context: Bosnia and Herzegovina is not part of the European Union. For later professional registration in Germany, an individual equivalence assessment applies instead of the automatic recognition under Directive 2005/36/EC.
The author's view
I am pleased about this figure, but it is not the reason we recommend the location. The reason is that Foča brings together something I do not see anywhere else in this combination: a state faculty, ANABIN H+, WFME accreditation, 3.500 Euro per year and a final practical year that can be completed in Germany.
What the figure means in practice: we have now supported so many students there that we know the typical stumbling blocks before they occur. That is the real value — not a position in a ranking.
And I am equally clear about what does not come with it: Bosnia is a non-EU country. Anyone who wants to work in Germany later goes through an equivalence assessment. We factor that in from the start, not only at the end.
