If you transfer to another EU medical faculty, the degree you eventually graduate with carries the same automatic recognition, because the directive attaches to the qualification, not to where you started.

Transferring outside the EU changes that picture, and it is worth being plain about it. A degree from Bosnia and Herzegovina or from a Caribbean school is not covered by Directive 2005/36/EC and goes through a national recognition procedure instead. For students heading to the United States, that is beside the point: the US route runs through the USMLE and ECFMG certification regardless of which country the degree comes from.
