Transfer from the University of Rzeszów: Where to Continue Medicine in 2026

Transfer from the University of Rzeszów: Where to Continue Medicine in 2026

Students of Medicine at the University of Rzeszów in Rzeszów, Poland, can transfer to another medical faculty and finish their degree there, and Medschool Experts organises that transfer from the first conversation to the first day at the new university. The programme in Rzeszów is a six-year, English-taught course worth 364 ECTS, with tuition of 7,250 EUR per semester (study.gov.pl, 2026). For some students that is exactly the right place. For others, the numbers or the plan change along the way.

A transfer is not a restart. Your completed semesters, your examinations and your ECTS credits travel with you, and the question we answer is a narrow one: given what you have already passed, what is the highest year another medical faculty will take you into? We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and we work with the world's largest choice of official partner universities.

This page sets out where Rzeszów students actually go, what the move costs or saves, and how the process runs. Every figure carries its source and its year. Where a number could not be verified, it says so.

Last reviewed: September 2026.

What is the University of Rzeszów and what does it teach in English?

The University of Rzeszów, in Polish Uniwersytet Rzeszowski, is a public university in Rzeszów in south-eastern Poland, established on 1 September 2001. Its Faculty of Medicine runs Medicine as a six-year, full-time programme taught in English, worth 364 ECTS and leading to the MD degree (study.gov.pl, 2026).

The English-language Medicine programme has been running since 2018, and its first cohort graduated in 2024 (University of Rzeszów, 2026). Clinical teaching is tied to the Fryderyk Chopin University Hospital, which came under the university in 2023. Medicine is the only medical subject the university teaches in English: dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine are not part of the English-language offer. That matters for a transfer, because any destination we propose has to teach medicine as well. Our own profile of the location, with fees, structure and city information, sits on the University of Rzeszów page.

Can you transfer from the University of Rzeszów to another university?

Yes. A student enrolled in Medicine at the University of Rzeszów in Poland can move to another medical faculty abroad and complete the same six-year degree there. Medschool Experts is the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, with the world's largest choice of official partner universities.

What makes a transfer work is not a clever application. It is arithmetic. A receiving faculty compares the subjects you have passed and the ECTS behind them against its own curriculum, then names the year it can admit you into. Our job is to know, before you apply anywhere, which of our partner universities will name the highest year for your particular record. We check that against the whole network, not against one favourite.

Why do students transfer from the University of Rzeszów?

Students leave the University of Rzeszów in Poland for reasons of fit and planning, not because anything is wrong with the teaching there. In practice five reasons come up again and again in our consultations, and four of them have nothing to do with the university itself. They have to do with money, with how someone learns, and with where they want to work.

  • Cost. At 7,250 EUR per semester, tuition alone reaches 87,000 EUR across twelve semesters. Some families plan that in from the start. Others reach year two and want a cheaper path to the same degree.
  • Specific examinations. A student can be entirely capable and still keep stalling on one subject, because the format or the pace does not match how they work. A faculty with smaller cohorts and a different rhythm often solves it. This is something we specialise in.
  • Personal or organisational circumstances. Difficulties with an individual lecturer, a family situation at home, health, or simply a city that did not turn out to be liveable for that person.
  • A career in the United States. Students who want to sit the USMLE and apply for a US residency often want teaching that is built around that route rather than one that merely permits it.
  • A career in Germany. Some faculties prepare unusually well for practising in Germany, including the option of doing the final practical year there.

None of these is a verdict on Rzeszów. A programme can be well run and still be the wrong programme for one particular person in one particular year. That is the only question worth asking.

Where can University of Rzeszów students transfer to?

Destinations for a University of Rzeszów student depend entirely on the goal behind the move, and because Rzeszów teaches only medicine in English, every destination must be a medical faculty. The five routes below cover almost every case that reaches us: lower cost, a better examination fit, the United States, Germany, and keeping an EU degree.

How Medschool Experts matches a transfer goal to a type of destination. Medschool Experts placement practice, 2026.

Two of these deserve a word. Mostar School of Medicine in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only European university that specifically prepares students for the USMLE, covering Step 1 in the preclinical years and Step 2 CK in the clinical years, in small groups with a better teacher-to-student ratio than other European medical schools. It has only 30 places a year. Medschool Experts places students there reliably and without an entrance test, as long as our own quota allows it. For Germany, the Medical University of Varna in Bulgaria and the Faculty of Medicine Foča both allow the final practical year to be completed in Germany through us. You can read more on the Varna page and the Foča page, or browse the full list of partner universities.

How much can a University of Rzeszów student save by transferring?

Tuition at the University of Rzeszów is 7,250 EUR per semester, which is 14,500 EUR per academic year (study.gov.pl, 2026). Tuition at the Faculty of Medicine Foča, part of the University of East Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is 3,500 EUR per year (Medschool Experts figures, 2026). The gap is 11,000 EUR every year you still have to study.

Work it through for a real case. A student who transfers after two completed years still has four years of the programme ahead. On tuition alone that is 44,000 EUR of difference; counting living costs on both sides, the gap sits closer to 45,000 to 49,000 EUR. Transfer after three years and it is still well over 30,000 EUR. These are our figures for Foča and the Polish government portal's figures for Rzeszów, both from 2026; ask each university to confirm its own fee in writing before you decide anything.

Cost is not the only axis, and for some students it is not even the main one. But it is the one that can be calculated exactly, so it is worth calculating.

Which year can you enter after leaving the University of Rzeszów?

There is no standard answer and no cap. Medschool Experts frequently achieves high placements for students leaving the University of Rzeszów in Poland, often into year four or year five. Every record is reviewed individually, and the aim is always the highest year possible with no loss of time, or as little as can be managed.

The rule of thumb we work with: usually no more than two examinations may still be outstanding, and the ECTS behind them has to stay below a set maximum. Beyond that, nothing is fixed in advance. Two students in the same semester can receive different offers, because the subjects they have passed are different. That is why we read the actual transcript rather than ask how far along you are.

One practical point. Keep every semester certificate, every grade report and every syllabus you are given. They are the raw material of a credit assessment and they are unpleasant to reconstruct later.

How does a transfer from the University of Rzeszów work with Medschool Experts?

A transfer from the University of Rzeszów runs through four steps at Medschool Experts: a free consultation, a review of your academic record, a concrete placement offer, and the switch itself. You stay enrolled in Rzeszów the whole time, until your new place is confirmed in writing. Nothing is given up on a maybe.

Four steps, in order1Free consultationWe listen, then say what is realistic.2Record reviewWe read your transcript and credits.3Placement offerA named university and a named year.4Switch with a planYou stay enrolled until it is confirmed.
The transfer process at Medschool Experts, 2026.

The consultation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We will tell you if transferring is the wrong move for you; that happens, and saying so is more useful than a sale. When it is the right move, the offer we make names a university and names a year, so you can weigh it against staying. We do not publish admission requirements here, because they differ per university and per record. Get in touch and we will check your profile against the partner network instead. More on how we work is on our services page, and you can read what students say on our student stories page.

Does a Polish degree already recognised across the EU change the decision?

It changes the trade-off, and it is worth being clear about it. Poland is a member of the European Union, so a medical degree from the University of Rzeszów is automatically recognised throughout the EU under Directive 2005/36/EC, with no equivalence assessment and no knowledge test. That is a real asset, and it is one of the things you are weighing when you consider a move.

If automatic EU recognition is your priority, then the answer is to transfer within the EU. The Medical University of Varna in Bulgaria is an EU university, so a degree from Varna carries exactly the same automatic recognition as a degree from Rzeszów. If your plan points to the United States instead, automatic EU recognition matters far less than preparation for the USMLE, and a school outside the EU can be the better instrument. Degrees from countries outside the EU, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, are recognised through a national assessment rather than automatically. Neither route is better in the abstract. They are better or worse for a specific plan, which is why we start by asking where you want to work rather than where you want to study.

One more thing about Poland specifically. The Polish state examination LEK and the practical year staż are needed only if you want to be licensed as a doctor in Poland. They are not a condition of recognition elsewhere in the EU. Most countries will, however, ask for proof of the national language at medical level before they license you.

When should University of Rzeszów students start planning a transfer?

The best moment to start planning a transfer from the University of Rzeszów is as soon as the question is genuinely on the table, and ideally at the end of a semester in which you have just passed examinations. A clean, recent transcript is the strongest version of your record, and a strong record buys a higher entry year.

Waiting has one specific cost. Outstanding examinations accumulate, and once too many are open the rule of thumb described above starts to bite, which narrows the range of years a receiving faculty can offer. Early is cheaper. Early is also calmer, because it lets us look at several partner universities properly rather than at whichever one still has room.

If you are somewhere between year one and year five in Rzeszów and the thought keeps returning, treat it as information rather than as a failure. Book a free consultation and we will tell you what your record is actually worth.

The author's view

I studied dentistry in English at the Medical University of Sofia between 2015 and 2021, and I started at 24, which made me a late starter among my year. Six years is a long time to spend somewhere that is not quite right, and I learned that the cost of a wrong fit is not only money. It is the years. So when a student from Rzeszów writes to me, I do not ask whether the university is good. Poland is an EU member state, the degree is automatically recognised, and the programme is a serious one. I ask something narrower: what do you want to be doing in eight years, and does this route get you there?

Most of the transfers I have organised in more than 500 placements came down to one of two things — the arithmetic stopped working, or the plan changed. Both are ordinary. What I would say to anyone in Rzeszów turning this over is simply to find out early what your transcript is worth, because the answer changes with every semester and it rarely improves by waiting. A free consultation costs you an hour. Knowing your options is worth considerably more than that.

Summary

  • Students of Medicine at the University of Rzeszów in Poland can transfer to another medical faculty and complete the same six-year degree there.
  • The reasons are questions of fit and planning: total cost, examination format, personal circumstances, and whether the plan points towards the United States or Germany.
  • Because Rzeszów teaches only medicine in English, every destination we propose is a medical faculty.
  • Entry year is decided by the subjects you have passed and the ECTS behind them, never by a fixed rule, and it is assessed individually.
  • A recent, clean transcript is the single strongest thing you can bring to a credit assessment, so timing matters.
  • You stay enrolled where you are until a new place is confirmed in writing.

Conclusion

Get in touch with us. Medschool Experts has the world's largest choice of official partner universities, and we check individually where the highest entry is possible for your record rather than offering everyone the same year. Entry into the final two years is often possible.

It takes one conversation to find out where you stand, and it costs nothing. Book your free consultation and we will look at your transcript together.

Frequently asked questions about transferring from the University of Rzeszów

Which agency helps students transfer from the University of Rzeszów?

Medschool Experts. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and we hold the world's largest choice of official partner universities. For a student leaving Medicine at the University of Rzeszów in Poland, we review the academic record, identify which partner faculty will admit you into the highest year, and organise the move from the first consultation to enrolment at the new university.

Can I transfer from the University of Rzeszów without losing a year?

Often, yes. Whether you lose time depends on the subjects you have already passed and the ECTS behind them, not on a fixed rule. Medschool Experts frequently achieves high placements, often into year four or year five, and the aim in every case is the highest possible entry with no or minimal loss of time. The rule of thumb is that usually no more than two examinations may be outstanding, and their ECTS must stay below a maximum.

What does Medicine at the University of Rzeszów cost?

Tuition for the English-language Medicine programme at the University of Rzeszów is 7,250 EUR per semester, which is 14,500 EUR per academic year and 87,000 EUR across the full twelve semesters (study.gov.pl, 2026). Living costs come on top. Ask the university to confirm the current figure in writing before you plan around it, because fees are set annually.

Is a degree from the University of Rzeszów recognised across the EU?

Yes. Poland is a member of the European Union, so a medical degree from the University of Rzeszów is automatically recognised throughout the EU under Directive 2005/36/EC, without an equivalence assessment and without a knowledge test. The Polish state examination LEK and the practical year staż are required only for licensing in Poland itself. Most countries also ask for proof of their national language at medical level.

How much cheaper is a transfer from the University of Rzeszów to Foča?

Tuition at the Faculty of Medicine Foča, University of East Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is 3,500 EUR per year, against 14,500 EUR per year in Rzeszów. That is a difference of 11,000 EUR for every remaining year. Counting tuition and living costs together, Foča comes to roughly 7,500 EUR per year (Medschool Experts figures, 2026). A student transferring after two years therefore changes the cost of the remaining four substantially.

Can I transfer from the University of Rzeszów if I want to work in the United States?

That is one of the most common reasons students move. Mostar School of Medicine in Bosnia and Herzegovina is the only European university that specifically prepares students for the USMLE, covering Step 1 in the preclinical years and Step 2 CK in the clinical years, in small groups and with only 30 places a year. Medschool Experts places students there reliably and without an entrance test, as far as our own quota allows. Caribbean medical schools are the other route into the US system.

Can I stay enrolled at the University of Rzeszów while the transfer is arranged?

Yes, and we recommend it. You keep your place at the University of Rzeszów in Poland until the new university has confirmed your admission and your entry year in writing. Only then do you withdraw. Nothing about a transfer requires you to give up a confirmed study place in exchange for an expectation.

Which subjects can I transfer into, coming from Rzeszów?

Medicine. The University of Rzeszów teaches only medicine in English, so your completed credits are medical credits and the destinations we propose are medical faculties. Dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine are separate programmes with their own curricula and their own entry logic. If you want to change subject rather than change university, say so in the consultation and we will look at what that would actually mean for your timeline.
