Grigol Robakidze University (GRU) was founded in 1995 and is today one of Georgia's best-known private universities. Its Medicine programme is taught entirely in English and is explicitly designed for international students from around the world.

The university is listed with the WHO and in the ANABIN database. The curriculum covers pre-clinical sciences in the first years, followed by clinical training with hospital placements from year three. The programme concludes after six years with an MD degree.
