The city as a place to study
Tbilisi is the capital of Georgia and one of the oldest cities in the Caucasus — a living urban centre of over one million people shaped by rich history, a growing creative scene, and an East-meets-West character unlike any other city. Historic neighbourhoods, contemporary architecture and a pulsating cultural life exist side by side.
For international students, Tbilisi offers a high quality of life at very low cost. English is increasingly spoken, especially in university areas, cafes and the hospitality sector. Public transport is good and affordable, and much of the city centre is walkable.
Tbilisi is generally considered safe. Georgian hospitality is well known and makes the transition to student life abroad noticeably smoother. Living costs — approximately 500 to 750 EUR per month — are among the lowest of any accessible city for international medical students.
