Study Medicine at the International Academy of Ecology and Medicine, Kyiv

The International Academy of Ecology and Medicine (IAEM) was founded in Kyiv in 1994 — the first higher-education institution in Ukraine to bring ecological and medical disciplines together in a single educational programme. The academy offers an English-taught Medicine programme leading to the MBBS degree and is state-accredited.

What sets it apart is its digital infrastructure: IAEM has a complete online learning platform with live lectures via Zoom, recorded courses and flexible scheduling. Students complete the entire pre-clinical phase (years 1–3) from their home country — with no need to relocate and no time abroad during the initial phase.

For the clinical phase (years 4–6), Medschool Experts arranges the transfer to a state-accredited partner location in Bosnia, where clinical training continues in person.

Medicine (MBBS) — 6 years, taught in English, state-accredited. Pre-clinical phase (years 1–3) entirely online. Clinical phase (years 4–6) at a Medschool Experts partner location in Bosnia. Intake every autumn.

The programme is divided into two clearly separate phases:

Years 1–3 — Pre-clinical phase (online): Foundation subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, histology and pathology are completed entirely online. Live lectures via Zoom, recorded content and digital examinations allow you to study from anywhere. No need to relocate.

Years 4–6 — Clinical phase (Bosnia, on site): From the fourth year, you transfer to an accredited clinical partner location of Medschool Experts in Bosnia. There you complete your clinical training, including clinical placements and block internships at approved hospitals. The language of instruction remains English.

IAEM does not set its own admission requirements — access is exclusively through Medschool Experts as its official contractual partner. There is no entrance exam and no selection interview. What matters is that you hold a university entrance qualification and have a solid command of English. We review your documents, clarify any open questions directly with the university and guide you through the entire application process — from your first enquiry to enrolment.

Tuition fees at IAEM are €4,000 per year for the online pre-clinical phase (years 1–3), making a total of €12,000 for the first half of the programme. For the clinical phase (years 4–6) at the partner location in Bosnia, the fees of that location apply.

As the pre-clinical phase runs entirely online, there are no rent, living or travel costs abroad for the first three years — a considerable financial advantage over a traditional on-site degree abroad.

IAEM is state-accredited and awards an internationally recognised MBBS degree. To obtain a medical licence, graduates generally need to have their qualification assessed for equivalence by the competent authority in the country where they wish to practise.

Depending on the country, proof of language proficiency and a medical language examination may also be required. Medschool Experts supports all students through this recognition process — from the application to the licence to practise.

As the pre-clinical phase is completed entirely online, students do not need to move to Kyiv during the first three years. Day-to-day studies take place from your own home — a decisive advantage for anyone who wants or needs to stay in their home country for the time being for family, professional or personal reasons.

For the clinical phase, you transfer to the partner location in Bosnia. Kyiv itself is the capital of Ukraine, with around 3 million inhabitants, and one of the most important university cities in Eastern Europe.
