Study Transfer from Cyprus: from Nicosia to a New University

Σύντομη απάντηση
Studying medicine in Nicosia and it's not working out? We arrange the study transfer to Foča, Niš, Malta and other NC-free universities.
Where can you study medicine in Cyprus?
- University of Nicosia Medical School — the country's largest private medical university, medicine and dentistry in English. To the location article.
- European University Cyprus, Nicosia — six-year medical programme in English.
- University of Cyprus, Nicosia — state university with a medical faculty.
Tuition fees at the private universities are approximately 20,000 to 23,000 EUR per academic year, making them among the highest in Europe. A regional overview is available in the article Studying medicine in Malta, Cyprus and Spain.
Why do students transfer from Cyprus to another university?
The total bill
At approximately 20,000 to 23,000 EUR per academic year plus living costs, the degree adds up to well over 120,000 EUR. When financing falls through, changing location determines whether the degree continues.
One subject becomes the bottleneck
Failing an exam often means losing an entire academic year — and paying that year's fee regardless.
The location does not suit
Island life, distance, daily living costs: over six years of study these are real factors that are hard to assess in advance.
How does the study transfer from Cyprus work?
You do not have to work any of it out yourself — that is our job. We deliberately publish no checklists and no date tables here, because what is needed differs from university to university and from year to year, and a list that is one round out of date can cost you an academic year.
What we need from you is simply your profile: what you have completed in Nicosia so far, your study records, and the countries you can picture yourself in. We compare that with the curricula of our partner universities and then tell you at which university in which country we can place you, at which point of entry, and where the start is genuinely plannable. Everything after that — the paperwork, the recognition of your prior learning, the communication with the university — runs through us.

Where can you transfer to from Cyprus?
MediCampus Europeo, Malta
For those who want to stay in the Mediterranean region with English as the everyday language: campus in Il-Furjana near Valletta, medicine in English, Maltese MFHEA licence, clinical phase from the third year onwards. 14,500 EUR per year with a lump-sum payment, start in October. To the Valletta location article.
University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Medicine Foča (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
One of our core locations, for which we hold representation in the German-speaking region. State faculty with its own university hospital, medicine and dentistry in English, listed in ANABIN, EU-compliant accreditation until 2033. 3,500 EUR per academic year, start in November, practical year optionally completed entirely at a German teaching hospital. Placements here are generally very high — transfers usually enter a high year of study. To the Foča study guide.
University of Niš, Faculty of Medicine (Serbia)
Large state university with its own university hospital, medicine in English, 360 ECTS, MD degree. 1,500 EUR per quarter, i.e. 6,000 EUR per academic year. To the Niš location article.
The full list of all NC-free options can be found in the study transfer article on Bulgaria. Beyond the three locations above stands the largest selection of official partner universities we know of — for human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine.
The level of placement depends on the individual case
All pathways mentioned here are designed to achieve the highest possible year placement for you through us — with no or minimal loss of time, and in practice the point of entry often falls in one of the last two years of the programme. What is feasible in your specific case becomes clear once we have looked at your profile, and that is exactly what the free consultation is for.
What the transfer means financially
Cyprus charges approximately 20,000 to 23,000 EUR per academic year. Malta costs 14,500 EUR, Niš 6,000 EUR and Foča 3,500 EUR. Transferring in the third year, over four remaining years, that is between 26,000 and 78,000 EUR less in tuition fees depending on the destination. Our placement fee is success-based: if no study place materialises, you incur no costs.
Why it pays to get in touch early
Places at our partner universities are limited, and being enrolled is the better starting position — so the conversation is worth having before the next resit rather than after it. The earlier we know your situation, the wider the choice of universities and countries still open to you, and the calmer the whole thing can be planned.
Looking at your profile takes a few days and costs nothing. You tell us where you stand; we tell you where we can place you and how high we can get you in. Book a free study consultation.
The author's view
Nicosia offers a very modern, clinically oriented curriculum — those who can afford it get a great deal there. But the price is the highest stake in the NC-free segment, and that is where study plans fail more often than at a specific subject.
My advice: do the arithmetic on the remaining time soberly before the next academic year begins. A transfer is a location decision, not a failure.
Conclusion
Cyprus is a modern location, but no location suits everyone — and where the money runs out or a single subject blocks the way, a change of university is a decision, not a failure. Passed subjects travel with you, and those who plan in good time generally lose no academic year.
We deliberately publish no requirement lists and no dates here, because they differ per university and per year. Send us your profile instead — your study records so far and the countries that come into question — and we will tell you at which university in which country we can place you, and at what point of entry. We aim for the highest possible one, which in transfers often falls in the last two years, drawing on the largest selection of official partner universities we know of for human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine.
The initial consultation and the review of your profile are free, and the fee is success-based: book a free study consultation and we will look at your situation together.

Frequently asked questions about study transfers from Cyprus
From which Cypriot universities do you arrange transfers?
From the University of Nicosia Medical School, European University Cyprus and the University of Cyprus.
Will I lose study time when transferring?
Generally not, if the transfer is planned in good time. The passed subjects are creditable.
Can I stay in the Mediterranean region?
Yes. MediCampus Europeo on Malta is the natural choice — English-speaking everyday life, mild climate, and a familiar language at the bedside.
Do I need to deregister first?
No. The transfer is planned while you are still enrolled.
Which year of study can I enter?
We always aim for the highest possible entry point, which in practice often means one of the last two years of the programme. The exact year follows from your profile, and we confirm it once we have reviewed it.
What do you need from me in order to check my options?
Your study records so far and the countries you can picture yourself in — that is enough for a first assessment. We deliberately publish no checklists here, because what is required differs per university and per year. We then tell you at which university in which country we can place you, drawing on the largest selection of official partner universities we know of for human medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine.
What does the consultation cost?
Nothing. The initial consultation and profile review are free; the fee is only due upon successful placement.

Study medicine abroad: Marcel's own path
Born in Stuttgart, Marcel started his degree late: at 24 he enrolled at the Medical University of Sofia, Faculty of Dental Medicine, and graduated in 2021 from the English-language programme. He went through the same steps his clients face today — nostrification of school certificates, entrance interviews, finding a flat in Sofia and later the recognition of a foreign degree. In Switzerland he completed the federal recognition procedure and holds a Swiss dental licence.
What Marcel does at Medschool Experts
Today Marcel lives in Bern and runs Medschool Experts full-time. He visits every partner university in person, negotiates placement agreements directly with faculties and deans, and leads the free consultations in which applicants learn at which university they can start next semester. His YouTube channel on studying medicine abroad has helped thousands of applicants compare universities, costs and recognition.
Topics Marcel writes about
- Study medicine abroad without an entrance exam: universities, costs and admission
- Study dentistry, veterinary medicine or pharmacy in Europe in English
- Tuition fees and living costs at medical schools in Europe and worldwide
