Hochschulstart is the allocation office of the Foundation for University Admission (Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung), which awards the study places in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine and pharmacy in Germany centrally through the dialogue-oriented service procedure.
proper name of the Foundation for University Admission, Dortmund
Stiftung für Hochschulzulassung, SfH, formerly ZVS
central admissions office
Hochschulstart pools the applications for the degree programmes with nationwide admission restrictions and distributes the places according to the top-Abitur quota, the additional aptitude quota and the universities' own selection procedures.
Waiting semesters have played no part since the 2020 reform. If you do not get a place, that does not shut you out of medicine: universities in the European Union select by their own criteria and their degrees are valid across Europe.
