The Terminologia Anatomica is the internationally binding list of anatomical terms, published by the Federative International Programme on Anatomical Terminologies. It fixes the Latin names and makes sure doctors around the world call the same structure by the same name.

Latin and Greek are not kept in medicine for the sake of tradition but as a precision tool: musculus biceps brachii refers to exactly the same muscle anywhere in the world, whatever the local language or hospital.
If you study elsewhere in Europe, you work with exactly the same nomenclature as at any German faculty – the Latin core of anatomy is identical internationally.
