Press release: Medschool Experts and EuroCampo Malta University enter a partnership

What has been agreed?

Medschool Experts and EuroCampo Malta University have signed a partnership agreement. Medschool Experts is thereby an official contractual partner and official partner agency of the university and is listed on its website as a Partner Agency.

The agreement covers both students beginning in the first year of study and transfer students moving from another university. The focus is on the February intake; the October intake is likewise part of the agreement.

Which countries is recruitment carried out in?

Four markets are at the centre of it: Scandinavia, Germany, Italy and the United Arab Emirates.

That combination is no coincidence. In Scandinavia and Germany, places to study medicine are scarce and admission hurdles are high; in Italy, a nationwide entrance test decides who gets one of very few places; and demand from the United Arab Emirates for English-taught medical programmes in the European Union has been growing for years.

Why Malta?

Malta is the only location in our programme where English is an official language. That sounds like a detail, but in everyday life it makes a considerable difference: teaching, hospital life, dealings with the authorities, the tenancy agreement and a visit to the doctor all happen in the same language. At most other locations the university teaches in English, while life off campus takes place in the local language.

Then there is the setting. The campus is in the greater Valletta area, the capital and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The island measures around 27 kilometres in length — everywhere is a short bus ride away. The international airport is around eight kilometres from the centre; Ryanair flies from Berlin, Cologne, Memmingen, Frankfurt and Nuremberg, among others, in around 2 hours 50 minutes.

In your free time, Malta is one of Europe's best diving regions, with wreck diving and the Blue Hole on Gozo. Sailing is possible all year round, and winter temperatures rarely fall below 12 degrees.

The February start as an advantage in its own right

Most European universities admit students in the autumn only. Anyone who decides in the winter, or narrowly misses the autumn intake, loses a full year there. The February start in Malta closes exactly that gap — and it is one of the reasons we often bring this location into the conversation when advising students.

On recognition

Malta is a member of the European Union and of the Schengen Area. A medical degree that meets the minimum requirements of Directive 2005/36/EC is automatically recognised in Germany, Austria and the other member states — without an equivalence assessment or a knowledge test. For Switzerland, the Agreement on the Free Movement of Persons applies, with licensing through MEBEKO.
