Study Transfer from the Czech Republic: from Prague, Pilsen, Hradec Králové and Brno to a New University
12.10.2026
Short answer
Studying medicine in Prague, Pilsen, Hradec Králové, Brno or Olomouc and it's not working out? We arrange the study transfer to Foča, Niš, Malta and more.
Which medical faculties exist in the Czech Republic?
- Charles University Prague — several medical faculties, medicine and dentistry in English. To the location article.
- Charles University Pilsen — medical faculty with its own university hospital. To the location article.
- Charles University Hradec Králové — smaller faculty with excellent supervision. To the location article.
- Masaryk University Brno — second-largest university in the country, medicine in English. To the location article.
Palacký University Olomouc also belongs to this group. None of these faculties select by school-leaving grades. Tuition fees range from approximately 12,000 to 16,000 EUR per academic year depending on the faculty. A regional overview can be found in the article Studying Medicine in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Why do students transfer out of the Czech Republic?
The exam pace doesn't fit
Czech faculties work with oral exams and a dense exam schedule. If you fail a subject, you often cannot complete the academic year — what begins as a semester's delay quickly becomes a full year.
The location doesn't fit
Prague is expensive, cohorts are large, and integrating into clinical operations doesn't come easily to everyone. Transferring to a smaller faculty with closer supervision solves this in many cases.
The finances no longer add up
At 12,000 to 16,000 EUR in tuition per year, plus living costs in Prague, the total cost of the degree reaches well into six figures. A location at 3,500 EUR per year changes this calculation fundamentally.
How do you find the right university — and get in?
This is the part we deliberately do not turn into a checklist. What a university wants to see, and how far along it will take you, differs from faculty to faculty and is rewritten every year. A list published in an article would be out of date before you could act on it — and it would tell you nothing about where you would be accepted.
So the sequence runs the other way round. You send us your profile: what you have studied so far, what you have already passed, and which countries you would consider. We read it the way the receiving university reads it, check it against our partner universities, and come back to you with the places where we can get you in reliably — which university, in which country, and at what cost.
Because you already carry completed study with you, we also check the highest possible entry point for your file. Entry in the final two years of a programme is not unusual for transfer students. Whether that applies to you is an individual question, and we answer it once we have seen your documents — not before.
Behind that stands the largest selection of official partner universities for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine. Book a free study consultation.

Where can you transfer from the Czech Republic?
University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Medicine Foča (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
One of our core locations, for which we hold the representation in the German-speaking world. State faculty with its own university hospital, medicine and dentistry in English, listed in ANABIN, accredited in compliance with EU standards until 2033. 3,500 EUR per academic year, with the option to complete the practical year entirely at a German teaching hospital. Placements here are typically very high — transfer students usually continue in an advanced year of study. To the Foča study guide.
University of Niš, Faculty of Medicine (Serbia)
Large state university with its own university hospital, medicine in English, 360 ECTS, degree: MD. 1,500 EUR per quarter, i.e. 6,000 EUR per academic year. To the Niš location article.
MediCampus Europeo, Malta
Campus in Il-Furjana near Valletta, medicine in English, Maltese MFHEA license. 14,500 EUR per year with a single payment. To the Valletta location article.
The complete list of all NC-free options can be found in the Bulgaria transfer article, and all fees compared in the tuition fee overview.
Your entry year is an individual question
Every path described here is designed to get you the highest possible year placement, with no or minimal loss of time. What that means concretely depends on your own record, on the university and on the year — which is why we look at your documents instead of publishing a rule that would not hold for your case. Send them to us and we will tell you where we can place you, and how far along.
What the transfer means financially
The Czech Republic charges around 12,000 to 16,000 EUR per academic year. Foča costs 3,500 EUR, Niš 6,000 EUR. For someone continuing in the third year, that is roughly 34,000 to 50,000 EUR less in tuition fees over the remaining four years, plus lower living costs of 450 to 500 EUR per month. Our placement fee is success-based.
Why it pays to get in touch early
- Places are limited — the earlier we see your file, the more universities are still open to you.
- Being enrolled is the better starting position — so have the conversation before your next resit exam.
- Nothing about it commits you — reviewing your documents takes a few days and costs nothing.

Author's Opinion
Charles University is a name that opens doors — graduates hold a first-class degree in their hands. But the oral exams are a discipline of their own, and they don't suit everyone.
What I see in conversations: most students come too late, when a year has already been lost. A semester earlier, the transfer would often have been possible without any loss at all. A transfer is not failure — it's a location decision.
Conclusion
Whatever your situation, you don't have to figure out the best path alone. At Medschool Experts, we work with the largest network of official partner universities, and we individually assess the highest possible year of entry for every student. In many cases, entry is even possible in the final two years of medical studies. Book a free consultation with our team and let's map out your personal path together.
Frequently Asked Questions About Study Transfers from the Czech Republic
From which Czech universities do you arrange transfers?
From all faculties with an English-language program: Charles University Prague, Pilsen, Hradec Králové, Masaryk Brno, and Palacký Olomouc.
Will I lose study time when transferring?
As a rule, no — and the earlier we see your file, the more of your progress we can protect. What is possible in your case is something we tell you after reading your documents.
Does it matter that my exams were oral?
No. How you were examined is not what decides the outcome. What can be carried over in your case is an individual question, and we check it for you.
Do I need to leave my Czech university first?
No — and you shouldn't. Talk to us while you are still enrolled; that is the stronger starting position.
Which year of study can I continue in?
That is decided individually, on your own record and university by university. We check the highest possible entry point for you, and continuing in one of the final two years of a programme is not unusual. Send us your documents and we will tell you where, and how far along, we can place you.
What does the consultation cost?
Nothing. The initial meeting and document review are free of charge; the fee is only due upon successful placement.
