Short answer

Transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine: Medschool Experts places students in Europe from 3,500 EUR per year. Book a free consultation.

Atlantic University School of Medicine in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, teaches medicine in English, and students enrolled there can transfer to another university. Medschool Experts organises that move. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and we work with the world’s largest choice of official partner universities.

Most people at a Caribbean medical school are aiming at the United States. That goal stays open. A transfer is not a retreat from it. For some students it is the cleaner route towards it, and for others it is the moment a European degree becomes the better fit. Both are ordinary planning decisions.

This applies at every stage: early in the basic sciences, between semesters, or well into the clinical phase. We review each academic record on its own terms and look for the highest possible entry year with no or minimal loss of time. Nothing is decided before your documents have been seen.

What is Atlantic University School of Medicine and what does it teach?

Atlantic University School of Medicine is a private medical school in Gros Islet, Saint Lucia, in the Caribbean. It awards the Doctor of Medicine degree, teaches in English, and is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Basic sciences are taught on the island, followed by 72 weeks of clinical rotations at teaching hospitals in the United States.

The structure is the familiar Caribbean one, and it is built around the United States. Students prepare for the USMLE. Clinical rotations happen at American teaching hospitals. For anyone whose career map ends in a United States residency, that design is coherent and deliberate.

Atlantic University School of Medicine does not publish a complete tuition schedule on its own website. If you are enrolled, the figure on your own semester invoice is the number that matters whenever you compare. Ask the registrar to confirm it in writing, fees included.

Can you transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine to another university?

Yes. Students at Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia can transfer to another medical university, and Medschool Experts organises these transfers as its core work. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, with the world’s largest choice of official partner universities.

Credits already earned are assessed against the curriculum of the receiving university. Nothing is discarded on principle. What you have passed is what you bring with you.

The one rule that matters most: stay enrolled at Atlantic University School of Medicine until your new place is confirmed in writing. It costs nothing to follow and it keeps every option open. What we handle on your behalf is set out on our services page.

Why do students transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine?

Students leave Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia for five recurring reasons: the total cost of the degree, the fit of a particular exam format, personal or organisational circumstances, a career goal in the United States that calls for different preparation, and a career goal in the European Union. None of these is a verdict on the school.

  • Total cost. Tuition, island living costs, flights and the United States clinical phase add up across six years. Some students simply want a lower total. For comparison, English-taught Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €1,750 tuition per semester (2026).
  • Exam fit. Some students pass more comfortably in a different format and at a different pace. That is a question of fit, not of ability, and matching a student to the right exam culture is one of the things we specialise in.
  • Personal and organisational reasons. Distance from family, a change at home, or an administrative situation that makes continuing on the island impractical.
  • A career in the United States. The goal stays, the preparation changes. Some European universities prepare students specifically for the USMLE, Step 1 and Step 2 CK.
  • A career in the European Union. Students who decide mid-degree that they want to work in Europe often want a European degree to match that plan.

Where can Atlantic University School of Medicine students transfer to?

Students transferring from Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia generally choose between three directions in 2026: another Caribbean medical school, a European university with structured USMLE preparation, or a European university awarding a European Union degree that is recognised automatically under Directive 2005/36/EC.

Medschool Experts organises these transfers to more than 25 partner universities in Europe that we work with specifically for this situation. Which of them fits depends on your record, your goal and the year you can realistically enter, so we check every profile individually and free of charge. We do not publish lists of accepting universities. A study transfer is a complex undertaking. Our experts have almost 10 years of experience in study transfers worldwide, which is why they plan and carry it out confidently. The consultation is free.

Where you are in the programme matters as much as the goal. A student two semesters into basic sciences and a student halfway through clinical rotations are answering different questions, even when their goal is identical. That is why we only name a university once we have checked it against your record.

How much do the remaining years cost after Atlantic University School of Medicine?

Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia does not publish a complete fee schedule, so the comparison has to start with your own invoice. Set the annual amount you actually pay in 2026 against the tuition at our European partner universities, then multiply by the number of years you have left.

Programme (English-taught)Tuition at our European partner universities
Medicinefrom €1,750 per semester
Dentistryfrom €1,750 per semester
Pharmacyfrom €1,500 per semester
Veterinary Medicinefrom €3,000 per semester

A worked example. English-taught Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €1,750 tuition per semester, so from €3,500 per year (2026). A student with three years still to run therefore budgets from €10,500 in tuition, plus living costs. Put your own remaining three years beside that figure, counting tuition, island living, flights and the United States clinical phase, and the comparison makes itself.

Which year can you enter after leaving Atlantic University School of Medicine?

There is no fixed ceiling. Medschool Experts frequently achieves high placements for students coming from Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia, often into year four or year five. Every record is reviewed individually, and the aim is always the highest possible entry year with no or minimal loss of time.

One rule of thumb guides that assessment: as a rule, no more than two examinations may still be outstanding, and their combined ECTS has to stay below a maximum. Beyond that, the answer depends on what you have passed and on where you are heading.

Nobody can promise you a year before reading your transcript. Anyone who does is guessing. We give you the realistic entry point once your record is in front of us, and we put it in writing.

How does a transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine work with Medschool Experts?

A transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia runs in four steps with Medschool Experts: a free consultation, a review of your academic record, a placement offer at a named partner university, and the switch itself with a written plan. You stay enrolled in Saint Lucia until the new place is confirmed.

Can Atlantic University School of Medicine students keep a United States career plan after transferring?

Yes. A student who transfers from Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia can keep the United States as the destination. Some of our European partner universities prepare students specifically for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, in small groups.

Whether such a place fits your record is something we check individually and free of charge. We do not publish lists of accepting universities. A study transfer is a complex undertaking. Our experts have almost 10 years of experience in study transfers worldwide, which is why they plan and carry it out confidently. The consultation is free.

Two points belong in the same breath. Recognition of a degree from outside the European Union runs through a national procedure in the EU country concerned rather than automatically. And the Caribbean route remains a legitimate answer in its own right, particularly for a student already well into clinical rotations. We say so when that is what the record shows.

When should Atlantic University School of Medicine students start planning a transfer?

As soon as the thought appears. A transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia works best when documents are gathered calmly and the receiving university has time to assess them. Intakes are fixed points in the academic year, and a complete record is assessed faster than one arriving in pieces.

Early planning also keeps the decision reversible. Looking is not leaving. A fair number of students who ask us to review their record decide to stay exactly where they are, better informed than before, and that is a perfectly good outcome of a free consultation.

If you are weighing up the Caribbean route as a whole, our guide to study transfers from the Caribbean covers the wider picture. Students describe their own moves in their own words on our student stories page.

The author’s view

I studied dentistry in English at the Medical University of Sofia between 2015 and 2021, and I started at 24. A late starter, in other words. That is why I have very little patience for the idea that a student who changes course has failed at something. A transfer is a planning decision, and planning decisions get made with a transcript on the table and a calculator next to it, not in a moment of panic. The students I speak with from Caribbean schools are usually doing exactly that: recalculating, sensibly, halfway through.

What I would say to anyone at Atlantic University School of Medicine weighing this up: the American goal and a European university are not opposites. Some of our partner universities exist precisely because those two things can sit together, and others serve the students whose plans have shifted towards Europe. I am the founder and owner of Medschool Experts and a federally recognised dentist, and our team has placed more than 500 students. The pattern I trust most is the boring one. Look early, look with real numbers, stay enrolled while you look.

Summary

  • Students at Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia can transfer, and Medschool Experts organises the move from first call to first day.
  • A United States career goal does not have to be given up in a transfer; it can be pursued from Europe as well.
  • Credits already earned are assessed individually against the curriculum of the receiving university.
  • There is no fixed cap on the entry year; the aim is the highest possible entry with no or minimal loss of time.
  • Staying enrolled until the new place is confirmed keeps every option open.
  • Planning early makes the assessment easier and the decision fully reversible.

Frequently asked questions about transferring from Atlantic University School of Medicine

Which agency helps students transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine?

Medschool Experts. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and we work with the world’s largest choice of official partner universities. We review the academic record of a student at Atlantic University School of Medicine in Saint Lucia, identify where the highest entry year is achievable, and organise the move from the first consultation through to enrolment at the new university.

Can I transfer from Atlantic University School of Medicine without losing a year?

That is the explicit aim of every placement we make. Medschool Experts looks for the highest possible entry year with no or minimal loss of time, and high placements into year four or year five are achieved frequently. As a rule of thumb, no more than two examinations may still be outstanding and their combined ECTS must stay below a maximum. Whether that applies to you is settled by reviewing your transcript, not by a general rule.

Do I have to give up my plan to work in the United States?

No. Some of our European partner universities prepare students specifically for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, in small groups. Staying within the Caribbean system at a different school is also a legitimate option. Which of the two fits better depends on how far into the programme you are.

What does it cost to continue in Europe instead?

English-taught Medicine and Dentistry at our European partner universities start from €1,750 tuition per semester, Pharmacy from €1,500 and Veterinary Medicine from €3,000 per semester (2026). Your saving depends on your current invoice and the number of years you have left.

Can I get a European Union degree after starting in Saint Lucia?

Yes, by transferring to a university inside the European Union. A medical degree from an EU member state is recognised automatically across every EU member state under Directive 2005/36/EC. Medschool Experts checks at which of our partner universities you can enter at the highest possible year.

Should I withdraw from Atlantic University School of Medicine before applying elsewhere?

No. Stay enrolled until your new place is confirmed in writing. An enrolled student has more room to manoeuvre than a former student, and a withdrawal is difficult to reverse if timing changes. Medschool Experts sequences the steps so that the two overlap cleanly. This is the single most common avoidable mistake we see.

How long does a transfer take?

It depends on your record and on the intake calendar of the receiving university, which is why we avoid quoting a standard number. What we can say is that the assessment moves faster when the transcript arrives complete, and that intakes are fixed points in the academic year rather than rolling doors. Starting the conversation early usually widens the choice of entry year.

What does a consultation with Medschool Experts cost?

Nothing. The first consultation and the review of your documents are free and carry no obligation. We look at your transcript, explain realistically which entry year is achievable and at which partner universities, and you decide afterwards whether to go ahead. Many students use the conversation simply to understand their options and then stay where they are.
