What is the Medical University of Łódź and what does it teach in English?

The Medical University of Łódź (Uniwersytet Medyczny w Łodzi) is a public medical university in Łódź, Poland, created on 27 July 2002 through the merger of the civilian Medical Academy of Lodz and the Military Medical Academy. Its English Division, established in 2003, teaches a six-year Medicine (MD) programme and a five-year Dentistry (DMD) programme.

The English Division began with eight students from the United States and Canada. Today the university has more than 700 international students from close to 70 countries, over 100 new arrivals each year, and more than 1,400 graduates now working as doctors and dentists. Run that forward. A student who moves at the end of the third year has three years left, so the difference is somewhere near €39,000–45,000 across the rest of the degree. For a student moving earlier it is larger still. These are not marginal sums, and for a good number of families they are the difference between finishing and not finishing.

There is no fixed ceiling on the entry year for a student transferring from the Medical University of Łódź in Poland. What does an EU degree from Poland mean for your plans after graduation?

Poland is a member state of the European Union, so a medical or dental degree from the Medical University of Łódź falls under Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications, which governs how qualifications move between EU member states. Outside the European Union the picture is different, and it is worth being clear about it before choosing a destination rather than afterwards.
