BDS seats in Indian government colleges are few, and private dental colleges in India often charge high fees. Studying dentistry abroad in English is a real alternative. European dental faculties train on phantom heads from the first years, move to supervised patient treatment in the middle years and award a dental degree that is respected internationally.

How dentistry abroad is structured

Years 1 and 2: anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, dental materials and first work in the simulation lab
Year 3: preclinical dentistry on phantom heads, pathology and pharmacology
Years 4 to 6: conservative dentistry, prosthodontics, oral surgery, orthodontics and periodontology with real patients under supervision

Admission to BDS abroad for Indian students

Class 12 with physics, chemistry and biology
NEET-UG qualification, which we strongly recommend if you want to practise in India
Proof of English, interview or entrance test depending on the university

Working in India after BDS abroad

To practise dentistry in India you register with the Dental Council of India. Rules for foreign dental graduates can change, so we check the current requirements for your intake before you apply and plan your documents from the first year.
