Transfer from Asian Medical Institute: Where to Continue Medicine in 2026

Transfer from Asian Medical Institute: Where to Continue Medicine in 2026

Short answer

Asian Medical Institute Kyrgyzstan: how to transfer to Europe in 2026, credit recognition and fees from €1,750 per semester. Free consultation.

Students of the S. Tentishev Asian International University, better known as the Asian Medical Institute (AMI), in Kant near Bishkek can transfer to a medical university in Europe in 2026; Medschool Experts plans and carries out the transfer, and the consultation is free.

Kant is a small town in the Chüy Valley, about 20 km east of Bishkek, and most AMI students know the minibus ride into the capital by heart. The messages we receive from Kant tend to arrive at two moments of the year: after the winter exams and after the summer session. Many start with the same sentence. A retake went wrong, a year has to be repeated, or the student has realised that the career they picture lies in Europe.

This guide comes from Marcel Kloos, founder and owner of Medschool Experts and a federally recognised dentist. He studied dentistry at the Medical University of Sofia from 2015 to 2021, starting at 24, and has placed more than 500 students at universities abroad.

Last reviewed: October 2026.

Is a transfer from Asian Medical Institute Kyrgyzstan possible in 2026?

Yes. A transfer from the Asian Medical Institute (AMI) in Kant, Kyrgyzstan, to a medical university in Europe is possible in 2026. Medschool Experts plans and carries out the transfer together with partner universities in Europe that take students from abroad into ongoing studies, and the first consultation is free.

Quick answer

AMI students in Kant can continue Medicine at a European partner university in 2026. Faculties compare your transcript and syllabi course by course and often place transfer students into higher years. Usually no more than two exams may be open. Tuition starts from €1,750 per semester, and Medschool Experts checks your case for free.

The Asian Medical Institute opened in 2004 and today belongs to the Asian International University named after S. Tentishev. Its English-taught General Medicine programme draws students from India, Pakistan and many other countries. A cohort that international brings many different career plans, which is why the transfer question comes up so often.

Failed exams or a year at Asian Medical Institute: what now?

Failing exams or a full year at the Asian Medical Institute in Kant does not end a medical career in 2026. Students who failed a retake or must repeat a year can still transfer to a European university, as long as the passed courses are documented and the open exams stay within the limit a receiving faculty accepts.

We see the same pattern every summer. A student passes most subjects, then one or two exams go wrong in the June session, often in biochemistry, pathophysiology or pharmacology, where the volume of material and the exam rhythm collide. The retake window is short, the pressure doubles, and a repeat year is suddenly on the table.

The first step is paperwork. Ask the dean's office for an official transcript with hours and grades for every passed subject, and keep the course descriptions (syllabi) of each year. With these two documents a European faculty can see what you have already achieved. Our rule of thumb: usually no more than two exams may still be open, and their credits must stay below a maximum set by the receiving faculty.

Timing matters as much as grades. A transfer prepared in spring is far easier to complete for the winter semester than one that starts in late August.

Why do students consider a transfer from Asian Medical Institute to Europe?

Students consider a transfer from the Asian Medical Institute in Kyrgyzstan to Europe for personal reasons: a career goal in Europe, the USA, the UK or the Gulf, the language patients speak in the clinical years, an exam rhythm that does not suit them, or a family budget that has changed. Medschool Experts hears these reasons in most 2026 consultations.

  • Career goal. Many AMI students decide during the first years that they want to work in Europe, the UK, the USA or the Gulf. A degree from a European university makes that path more direct.
  • Language on the wards. Teaching at AMI is in English, while patients in the Chüy Region speak Kyrgyz and Russian. Students who never feel at ease in Russian sometimes find the clinical years harder than they expected.
  • Exam rhythm. Some students thrive on frequent oral exams and module tests. Others need a different pace, and a poor fit shows up in the grades long before it shows up in confidence.
  • Budget. Swings between the rupee, the dollar and the som, or a change in the family's income, can shift a six-year plan.
  • Distance and family. Flights from Manas airport add up over six years. Some students want to be closer to home or to relatives already living in Europe.

None of this says anything about the quality of the institute. It describes the fit between a person and a place, and that fit can change between the first and the fourth year.

A note for students from India

Since 2021, India's National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021) requires the whole course, training and internship to be completed at the same foreign institution for the Indian licence. A transfer therefore suits students whose career goal lies in Europe, the UK, the USA or the Gulf. We check every Indian case individually in the free consultation.

How are credits from Asian Medical Institute recognised at European universities?

Credits from the Asian Medical Institute are recognised in 2026 through a course-by-course comparison. A European faculty puts the AMI transcript next to its own curriculum, checks contents and contact hours subject by subject, and decides which courses count and which year a student can enter. Medschool Experts prepares this comparison before any application.

Two documents carry the whole process: the official transcript with hours and grades, and the syllabi that describe what each course covered. A subject called Normal Physiology in Kant may correspond to Physiology I and II in Europe, and the syllabus proves it. Missing syllabi are the most common reason a credit gets lost.

Where a transcript lists hours rather than ECTS, faculties convert. In the European system one academic year equals 60 ECTS credits, and one credit stands for roughly 25 to 30 hours of student workload. EU Directive 2005/36/EC, as amended in 2013, sets medical training at a minimum of five years and 5,500 hours. Those figures give the receiving faculty a common scale for an MBBS transfer.

How transfers work in other systems

In the European Union, credit transfer runs on ECTS and the Lisbon Recognition Convention of 1997: a university has to recognise studies completed elsewhere unless it can show a substantial difference. In the United Kingdom, medical schools rarely admit students into later years, and most graduates of foreign schools reach the NHS through the General Medical Council's PLAB route after graduating. In the United States, MD schools take very few transfer students, usually only into the third year and often only with a passed USMLE Step 1. Continental Europe is where a mid-course transfer is realistic.

That is where our partner universities are.

Which universities accept transfer students from Asian Medical Institute?

Several European universities accept transfer students from the Asian Medical Institute in 2026, but the right one depends on the transcript, the open exams and the career goal. Medschool Experts works with partner universities in Europe specifically for transfer cases and matches each AMI student individually instead of publishing a fixed list.

We do not publish lists for a simple reason: capacities change every semester. A faculty with four free places in the third year in spring may have none in autumn. A list from last year would send students to closed doors.

A study transfer is a complex undertaking. Our experts have almost 10 years of experience in study transfers worldwide, which is why they plan and carry out each transfer confidently, from the credit comparison to enrolment. The consultation is free.

We help with the application without loss of time, and the aim is to rescue the career that started in Kant. Faculties often place transfer students into higher years. Every case is checked individually.

What does studying in Europe cost compared with Asian Medical Institute Kyrgyzstan?

Tuition at the Asian Medical Institute in Kyrgyzstan is about USD 3,400 to 3,600 per year in 2026, roughly €2,900 to €3,100. English-taught programmes at the European partner universities of Medschool Experts start from €1,750 per semester for Medicine and Dentistry, from €1,500 for Pharmacy and from €3,000 for Veterinary Medicine.

On tuition alone, Kant and the entry level in Europe sit close together. The bigger difference lies in living costs: a hostel bed in Kant costs about USD 500 to 600 a year, while a room in a European university town costs more. We calculate the full budget for your target city in the consultation, including rent, health insurance and flights.

One limitation applies. The from-prices are entry prices; some partner universities charge more, and the fee for a specific year is confirmed only once a faculty accepts the transfer.

Can I transfer from Asian Medical Institute without losing a year?

Yes, a transfer from the Asian Medical Institute without losing a year is possible in 2026 when the AMI courses match the receiving curriculum closely and no more than about two exams are open. European faculties often place transfer students from Kyrgyzstan into higher years, sometimes the same year they would have reached in Kant.

The biggest risk is the calendar, not the curriculum. Files that start after July often miss the winter intake, and a missed intake costs a semester even when every credit would be recognised. Start the credit check as soon as your spring exams are done.

Sometimes a faculty credits a year but asks for one or two bridging exams, for example in a subject that Europe teaches in a different year. These are usually taken alongside the new semester. That costs effort, not time.

What does the 2026 accreditation review in Kyrgyzstan mean for students at Asian Medical Institute?

In May 2026 the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan carried out a state accreditation review of medical universities. The S. Tentishev Asian International University, home of the Asian Medical Institute in Kant, received state accreditation for six years and is among the institutions licensed to continue training doctors.

For current AMI students this means continuity. Studies in Kant go on, and the results of the review were published in June 2026.

Students who still think about a transfer usually do so for reasons unrelated to the review: they want a European degree, a different language environment or a career path towards Europe. For them the six-year accreditation is useful, because a transcript from a state-accredited institution keeps the course-by-course comparison straightforward.

Can I continue from Asian Medical Institute towards the USA (USMLE), the UK or the Gulf?

Yes. Students who leave the Asian Medical Institute in 2026 and complete Medicine at a European partner university of Medschool Experts can aim for the USMLE in the USA, the PLAB route in the UK or licensing exams in the Gulf states. Several partner universities offer very strong USMLE preparation, some with pass rates of up to 100 % in the last two years.

For the USA, the school that awards the final degree is what counts; it must be listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools so that ECFMG certification is possible. In the UK, the General Medical Council admits graduates of listed schools to PLAB. In the Gulf, health authorities such as the Dubai Health Authority or the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties assess the degree, the internship and the licensing exam.

We discuss your target country in the first consultation. It shapes the choice of partner university more than any other factor.

How does a transfer from Asian Medical Institute work with Medschool Experts, step by step?

A transfer from the Asian Medical Institute with Medschool Experts takes about four to seven months in 2026 and follows six steps: free consultation, documents, credit comparison, choice of partner university, transfer application, and arrival with enrolment. Medschool Experts plans each step and keeps the timeline realistic.

  1. Free consultation: we look at your semester, your open exams and your career goal.
  2. Documents: transcript with hours and grades, syllabi, school-leaving certificate, passport.
  3. Credit comparison: course by course against the curricula of suitable partner universities.
  4. Choice of university: we recommend the faculty where your credits and your goal fit best.
  5. Transfer application: we prepare the file with you, without loss of time.
  6. Arrival and enrolment: visa, housing and the first week on campus.

Six steps of a transfer from Asian Medical Institute Kyrgyzstan to Europe with Medschool Experts, typically 4 to 7 months in 2026.

Four months is realistic when documents are ready and the syllabi exist in English. Seven months is more typical when papers must first be requested from the dean's office in Kant or translated.

Which documents do I need from Asian Medical Institute for a transfer?

For a transfer from the Asian Medical Institute in 2026, students need an official transcript with hours and grades, the syllabi of every completed course, the school-leaving certificate and a valid passport. Medschool Experts explains which documents need certified translations or an apostille for the target country.

Request the transcript early. Dean's offices are busiest at the end of a session, and a document that is ready within days in March can take much longer at the end of June. Keep scans of everything in one folder; you will send the same files more than once.

The author's view

I started dentistry at the Medical University of Sofia in 2015, at 24, older than most of my classmates. I remember the first months in the clinic well: the teaching was in English, the patients spoke Bulgarian, and I spent evenings learning phrases just to take a proper history. Nobody had warned me that this would be the hardest part. When AMI students tell me they feel lost on the wards in Kant, I know what they mean.

What I have learned since then, as founder of Medschool Experts and after more than 500 placements, is that a stalled medical degree rarely fails on talent. It fails on fit and on timing. The students who come through well are the ones who put their transcript on the table early, before a repeat year has eaten into their savings and their confidence.

A transfer is a second plan, carefully built, for someone who has already shown they can study medicine. If you are in Kant and unsure, talk to us before the next session starts. That conversation costs nothing and often changes more than people expect.

Summary

  • Students of the Asian Medical Institute (S. Tentishev Asian International University) in Kant, Kyrgyzstan, can transfer to a medical university in Europe in 2026.
  • Credits from AMI are recognised course by course on the basis of the transcript, the syllabi and contact hours, with 60 ECTS per academic year as the European scale.
  • Usually no more than two exams may still be open, and European faculties often place transfer students into higher years.
  • English-taught programmes at our European partner universities start from €1,750 per semester for Medicine and Dentistry, from €1,500 for Pharmacy and from €3,000 for Veterinary Medicine.
  • The S. Tentishev Asian International University received six-year state accreditation from Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health in 2026.
  • A transfer with Medschool Experts takes about four to seven months, and the consultation is free.

Conclusion

Leaving Kant in the middle of a degree is a big decision, and it rarely starts with a plan. It starts with a failed retake, a long call with parents or a quiet moment on the ward when the career you picture seems to lie elsewhere. A transcript and a set of syllabi turn that feeling into something a faculty can assess.

Our team has done this many times, for students from Kyrgyzstan and far beyond. Send us your documents, and we will tell you which year you could realistically enter and what it would cost. The quickest way to start: book a free consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions about a transfer from Asian Medical Institute

Do I need an agency to transfer from Asian Medical Institute?

You can write to faculties yourself, but a transfer from the Asian Medical Institute involves credit comparisons, translations and deadlines in several countries. Medschool Experts has almost 10 years of experience in study transfers and works with partner universities in Europe that accept transfer cases, which saves time and avoids applications to faculties without free places.

Will I lose a year if I transfer from AMI Kant?

Not necessarily. When your AMI courses match the new curriculum and no more than about two exams are open, European faculties often place transfer students into higher years. The most common cause of a lost semester is a late start, so the credit check should begin right after the spring exams.

I failed a year at Asian Medical Institute. Can I still transfer?

Yes, in many cases. Passed courses stay on your transcript and can be credited. What counts is how many exams are still open and how many credits they carry. As a rule of thumb, no more than two open exams, with credits below the maximum the faculty sets. We check each case individually.

How many credits from Asian Medical Institute are recognised?

That depends on how closely the AMI curriculum overlaps with the curriculum of the receiving faculty. Faculties compare course contents and hours subject by subject. Students with complete syllabi and few open exams usually see most completed courses credited; missing syllabi are the main reason credits are lost.

Which documents do I need for a transfer from AMI?

An official transcript with hours and grades, the syllabi of all completed courses, your school-leaving certificate and your passport. Depending on the target country, certified translations or an apostille may be needed. Medschool Experts tells you exactly which papers to request from the dean's office in Kant.

What does the consultation with Medschool Experts cost?

The consultation is free and without obligation. We look at your transcript, your open exams and your career goal, and tell you which year at a European partner university is realistic and what it would cost.

Can students from India transfer from Asian Medical Institute?

Yes, with one point to consider. Since 2021, India's National Medical Commission (Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021) requires the whole course, training and internship at the same foreign institution for the Indian licence. A transfer therefore suits students whose career goal lies in Europe, the UK, the USA or the Gulf. We check every Indian case individually.

Can I take the USMLE after transferring from Asian Medical Institute?

Yes. For the USMLE, the school that awards your final degree is what matters. Several European partner universities of Medschool Experts offer very strong USMLE preparation, some with pass rates of up to 100 % in the last two years. Students with plans for the USA are matched with these universities.

Is studying in Europe more expensive than at Asian Medical Institute?

Tuition at AMI is about USD 3,400 to 3,600 per year, roughly €2,900 to €3,100. Our European partner universities start from €1,750 per semester for Medicine and Dentistry, from €1,500 for Pharmacy and from €3,000 for Veterinary Medicine. Living costs in Europe are higher than in Kant, so we calculate the full budget with you.

Is Asian Medical Institute accredited in 2026?

Yes. In the 2026 review, Kyrgyzstan's Ministry of Health granted the S. Tentishev Asian International University, which includes the Asian Medical Institute, state accreditation for six years. Students who transfer do so for career or personal reasons, and a transcript from a state-accredited institution supports the credit comparison.
