Press release: Medschool Experts and the International University of Sarajevo enter an official partnership

What has been agreed?

Medschool Experts and the International University of Sarajevo have signed an official partnership agreement. The contract was concluded in Sarajevo. Under it, Medschool Experts takes on the recruitment and support of suitable applicants for the university's programmes.

The focus is on dentistry. Beyond that, Medschool Experts also places students in other programmes at the university, for example in engineering, the natural sciences and business. Human medicine is not offered at IUS.

Which countries are candidates recruited from?

The agreement covers seven target markets: the United Arab Emirates, Libya, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Turkey and England.

The partnership therefore serves three very different applicant groups: the German-speaking and Scandinavian region, where places in dentistry are scarce and admission hurdles are high; the Arab world, with its strongly growing demand for English-taught degree programmes in Europe; and Turkey, together with the Turkish diaspora in Europe, for whom this location holds something special.

Why is this location particularly interesting for applicants of Turkish origin?

Because the dentistry programme at IUS leads to a dual degree that is recognised in Turkey and in Europe alike.

The structure comes in two parts: students complete the preclinical phase in Sarajevo and the clinical phase in Istanbul. The programme runs as a dual-degree programme of IUS together with the University of Health Sciences (Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi) in Istanbul. Those who complete it end up holding a degree that opens both labour markets.

For families with Turkish ties whose children grew up in Germany, Sweden, Norway or England, this is a rare combination: an education in English, with clinical experience in a city of 16 million people — and without having to commit to a single country early on.

Applicants from the seven target markets are supported by Medschool Experts with immediate effect — from the first assessment through to the start of their studies. One important point for context: Bosnia and Herzegovina is not part of the European Union. For later professional licensing in Germany, the automatic recognition under Directive 2005/36/EC therefore does not apply; instead, an individual equivalence assessment applies. This is a well-established route — but it has to be set up properly from the very beginning.
