Which medical faculties exist in Hungary?

Hungary has four state medical faculties with international programs. We have already arranged transfers from all four.

Admission at all faculties is based on an entrance exam in biology and chemistry — not on school-leaving grades. Tuition fees range from approximately 16,000 to 19,000 EUR per academic year depending on faculty and subject, making them among the highest in Europe. Why do students transfer out of Hungary?

From our placement experience we know three patterns. None of them is a failure, and none reflects badly on the Hungarian faculties — they offer excellent training.

One subject becomes a bottleneck

Hungarian curricula are densely paced, especially in anatomy and biochemistry. If you fail a subject, you often cannot complete the academic year — what begins as a semester's delay quickly becomes a full year. At that point there are two options: try again at the same faculty, or take your passed credits with you.

The location doesn't fit

Very large international cohorts, a great deal of anonymity, little personal supervision — for some this is exactly right, and for others it becomes very difficult to sustain over six years. Transferring to a smaller faculty with closer support solves this in many cases.

The costs are no longer manageable

At 16,000 to 19,000 EUR in tuition per year, six years of study adds up to well over 100,000 EUR. When a family situation changes, a location at 3,500 EUR per year is not a last resort but the sensible decision.

How does the study transfer from Hungary work?

1. Review your documents. You send us your Transcript of Records with ECTS credits and grades, plus your enrollment confirmation. Free of charge and non-binding.
2. Determine the target year. We compare your achievements against the target university's curriculum — before anything is submitted.
3. Reserve a place. Places in higher years only arise when one becomes free and are allocated in order of receipt of complete documents.
4. Recognition procedure. The target university formally recognizes the subjects. We assist with translations and certifications.
5. Enroll and continue studying. De-registering from your Hungarian university is the last step, not the first.

Where can you transfer from Hungary?

University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Medicine Foča (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

One of our core locations, for which we hold the representation in the German-speaking world. State faculty with its own university hospital, medicine and dentistry in English, listed in ANABIN, accredited in compliance with EU standards until 2033. 1,750 EUR per semester, i.e. 3,500 EUR per academic year, intake in November. The practical year can optionally be completed entirely at a German teaching hospital. Placements here are typically very high — transfer students usually enter an advanced year of study. University of Niš, Faculty of Medicine (Serbia)

Large state university with its own university hospital, medicine in English, six years, 360 ECTS, degree: MD. Extensive clinical training, clear exam structure. 1,500 EUR per quarter, i.e. 6,000 EUR per academic year. To the Niš location article.

MediCampus Europeo, Malta

Campus in Il-Furjana near Valletta, medicine in English, clinical section from the third year onward, Maltese MFHEA license. Transfer from the second year onward, 14,500 EUR per year with a single payment, intake in October. To the Valletta location article.

The placement year depends on the individual case

All paths described here are designed to achieve the highest possible year placement for you through us — with no or minimal loss of time. However, this only becomes binding after your documents have been reviewed. As a general rule: no more than two open exams whose ECTS credits do not exceed a certain ceiling — that is typically what allows a transfer into the next higher year. What the transfer means financially

Hungary is at the top of the NC-free locations with 16,000 to 19,000 EUR per academic year. Foča costs 3,500 EUR, Niš 6,000 EUR per year. Someone transferring in the third year still has four years ahead — at Foča that is roughly 50,000 to 62,000 EUR less in tuition fees, plus lower living costs of realistically 450 to 500 EUR per month. Our placement fee is success-based: if no place is secured, you incur no costs.

Why you should seek advice as early as possible

• Places are limited. In higher years there are no open quotas — it matters who submits complete documents first.
• Deadlines are running. Foča starts in November, Malta in October, Niš accepts students on a quarterly basis.
• Being enrolled is the better starting position. That is why it is worth having the conversation before you register for your next resit exam.
