€3,000 a year is not a discount coupon; spread over six years it is worth as much as an entire year of tuition at some other locations. That is why I consider this agreement genuinely relevant.

Tirana itself surprised me. The city has changed enormously in just a few years, and its proximity to the Adriatic makes everyday life more pleasant than the map would suggest — though it has to be said honestly: Tirana is not on the sea, it is 40 kilometres from it.

And as with every location outside the EU, the same rule applies: anyone who wants to work in Germany later should understand the recognition route before enrolling.

How large is the saving?

Up to €3,000 per academic year compared with the regular fee — in every year of the programme, not only the first.

Students who are placed at West Balkan University through Medschool Experts.

Which programmes are offered?

Human medicine and dentistry, both taught in English. We share the exact fee on request, as it depends on the agreement.

Where is Tirana?

Tirana is the capital of Albania. The Adriatic coast near Durrës is around 40 kilometres away and can be reached in about 40 minutes. The airport is 17 kilometres from the city centre; Wizz Air flies from Memmingen, Dortmund, Karlsruhe and Nuremberg in around 2 hours 15 minutes.

Is the degree recognised in Germany?

Albania is not an EU member state. Recognition runs through an individual equivalence assessment rather than through automatic recognition under Directive 2005/36/EC.
