The Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine, SIMU, is the most advanced facility of its kind in Central Europe. The five-storey training hospital is equipped like a real one: a heliport on the roof, a clinical floor with operating theatres and intensive care units, medical technology and simulators, and an emergency room with a fully equipped ambulance on the ground floor. One entire floor is reserved for Dentistry.
Here you try every procedure yourself, from the simplest to the most complex, without putting a patient at risk. Mistakes are welcome at SIMU as long as you learn from them. One of the widest and best-trained simulation teams in the field guides you straight into situations you would otherwise only meet after years in practice.
The faculty describes the result as a new type of graduate: more experienced, more confident, more competent.

FAQ: SIMU simulation centre in Brno
Am I allowed to make mistakes at SIMU?
Yes, explicitly. Mistakes happen on simulators and not on patients, as long as you learn from them. An experienced simulation team guides you.
Is SIMU only relevant for Dentistry?
No. Medicine uses the emergency room, operating theatres, intensive care and training rooms, and Dentistry additionally has a floor of its own. Both degrees are supplemented with practical training from SIMU.
Does SIMU replace practice in the hospital?
No, it complements it. Clinical teaching also runs at the university hospitals, University Hospital Brno and St. Anne's University Hospital, with around 3,000 beds between them.
Where is SIMU located?
On the University Campus Bohunice in the south of Brno, together with the theoretical institutes of the faculty, the library and the neighbouring University Hospital Brno.
