Study conditions and campus life
Das Studium dauert sechs Jahre. Die ersten zwei Jahre sind vorklinisch mit Anatomie, Physiologie, Biochemie, Histologie und Embryologie; begleitend wird Slowakisch unterrichtet. Ab dem dritten Jahr folgt der klinische Abschnitt mit Innerer Medizin, Chirurgie, Pädiatrie, Gynäkologie, Neurologie und Psychiatrie an den Universitätskliniken Bratislavas. Das sechste Jahr besteht aus durchgehenden Stationsrotationen.

Recognition and career prospects
Die Slowakei ist Mitglied der Europäischen Union, damit gilt für dein Studium die Berufsanerkennungsrichtlinie 2005/36/EG. Der Titel MUDr. der Medizinischen Fakultät der Comenius Universität Bratislava wird in Deutschland automatisch anerkannt, ebenso der zahnmedizinische Abschluss MDDr. Eine Gleichwertigkeitsprüfung ist nicht vorgesehen, eine Kenntnisprüfung auch nicht.
Praktisch beantragst du die Approbation bei der Behörde des Bundeslandes, in dem du arbeiten willst, und legst einen Nachweis deiner Deutschkenntnisse auf Fachsprachniveau vor. Wie lange die Prüfung des Antrags dauert, hängt vom Bundesland ab. Für Österreich ist die Österreichische Ärztekammer zuständig, für die Schweiz die MEBEKO, in beiden Fällen nach derselben EU- beziehungsweise EFTA-Regel.
Danach beginnst du die Facharzt- oder Fachzahnarztweiterbildung an Kliniken und Praxen mit Weiterbildungsbefugnis, gleichgestellt mit Absolventen deutscher Fakultäten. Bratislava liegt an der Donau direkt an der österreichischen Grenze, Wien ist in einer Stunde erreichbar. Wer später in Österreich arbeiten möchte, kennt Sprache und Klinikkultur der Region dann bereits aus dem Studium.
