Why study medicine here?

The University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine is the oldest and largest medical faculty in Bosnia and Herzegovina, founded on 16 November 1946. It is a public university and has offered the International Medical Degree Program (IMDP) in English since the 2015/16 academic year. The faculty is located in central Sarajevo at Čekaluša 90 and is affiliated with the Clinical Centre of the University of Sarajevo, one of the largest hospital complexes in the Western Balkans.

The English-language programme is a full six-year integrated degree (360 ECTS) leading to the title of Doctor of Medicine. Instruction, examinations, and clinical rotations all take place in English. The faculty has strong connections to the University Hospital and teaching is conducted in small groups from the early semesters.

Admission and entrance exam

The English-language International Medical Degree Program (IMDP) at the University of Sarajevo Faculty of Medicine offers 30 places per year for international students. Admission is based on secondary-school grades in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English, followed by an entrance interview. Applicants must provide proof of English proficiency.

There is no numerus clausus. Applications are submitted directly to the faculty; the call is typically published in mid-June via upis.unsa.ba. The intake is in October.

Marcel Kloos

Federally recognised dentist, founder and owner of Medschool Experts

Marcel Kloos founded the company while still studying abroad himself; since then more than 500 study places have been arranged. Originally from Stuttgart, he studied dentistry in Sofia from 2015 to 2021 and is a federally recognised dentist.

He now lives in Bern and runs the company full-time as its owner. He visits the partner universities in person on a regular basis.
