Das Studium dauert sechs Jahre. Die ersten beiden Jahre umfassen die vorklinischen Fächer Anatomie, Physiologie, Biochemie, Histologie und Embryologie sowie Bulgarischkurse. Ab dem dritten Jahr folgt der klinische Abschnitt mit Innerer Medizin, Chirurgie, Pädiatrie, Gynäkologie, Neurologie und Psychiatrie, verbunden mit Praktika am Universitätsklinikum Stara Sagora. Das sechste Jahr ist praktisch angelegt und entspricht dem deutschen PJ.
