Transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences: Where to Continue Veterinary Medicine in 2026

Short answer

Transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr): veterinary faculties from €3,000 tuition per semester, entry often into year 4 or 5.

Students at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr) in Wroclaw, Poland can transfer to another veterinary faculty, and Medschool Experts organises that move from the first consultation to the first day of teaching at the new faculty. The English-taught Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programme at UPWr runs 11 semesters, which is 5.5 years, and carries 360 ECTS. Many students finish it exactly as planned. Others reach a point where a different faculty fits their budget, their family situation or their career plan better.

Both outcomes are normal. A transfer inside the European veterinary system is an administrative step, not a verdict on anyone. Medschool Experts is the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and works with the world's largest choice of official partner universities, including veterinary faculties across Europe.

The numbers matter here. UPWr charges 20,000 PLN per semester for the English-language veterinary programme, which is about 4,560 euros per semester, or roughly 9,120 euros per academic year, converted at 1 EUR = 4.38 PLN on 24 September 2026. Veterinary Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €3,000 tuition per semester. Whether a move pays off depends on how many semesters you have already passed and on where you intend to practise.

What is Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences (UPWr) and what does it teach in English?

Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, in Polish Uniwersytet Przyrodniczy we Wroclawiu, is a public university in Wroclaw, Poland, independent since 17 November 1951. Its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine teaches an English-language Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programme of 11 semesters, 5.5 years, worth 360 ECTS, starting in October.

One point of confusion is worth clearing up. UPWr and Wroclaw Medical University are two separate institutions in the same city, and the English-taught veterinary programme in Wroclaw described on our own page is the one at UPWr. The university reported 6,551 students in December 2023 across five faculties, one of which is veterinary medicine. Its veterinary roots reach back to the Lviv Academy of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1881.

Can you transfer from UPWr Wroclaw to another veterinary faculty?

Yes. A student of the English-language veterinary programme at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences can continue at another veterinary faculty, and Medschool Experts arranges exactly this kind of move. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, with the world's largest choice of official partner universities.

Veterinary transfers follow their own logic. The target has to be a veterinary faculty, the curricula have to overlap enough for your completed semesters to count, and the diploma at the end has to work in the country where you want to practise. We check all three before anyone signs anything. No guesswork.

Why do students transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences?

The reasons we hear from veterinary students in Wroclaw are questions of fit and planning, not complaints about the faculty. Five come up again and again, and each of them has a practical answer inside our network of veterinary faculties across Europe.

  • Cost. At roughly 9,120 euros a year in tuition plus living costs, the total is significant. Veterinary Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €3,000 tuition per semester.
  • Exam fit. Some students pass most subjects comfortably and keep stumbling over one or two. A faculty with a different assessment rhythm can solve that. We are specialists in this situation.
  • Individual circumstances. Difficulties with a particular examiner, a family situation at home, health, money that ran out mid-degree. Any of these can make continuing in one place impractical.
  • Career elsewhere in the EU. Some students want their remaining years closer to where they will register as a vet, under Directive 2005/36/EC.
  • Career in the United States. This is possible from an EU veterinary degree, but it runs through ECFVG or PAVE certification, and it is worth planning early rather than late.

One thing we never do: we do not tell anyone to leave a university we respect. UPWr is an established veterinary faculty. The question we answer is narrower and more useful — given your semesters, your budget and your goal, where is the highest possible entry with the least loss of time?

Where can UPWr veterinary students transfer to?

Destinations for a veterinary student are always veterinary faculties, never medical ones. A transfer is possible, and Medschool Experts offers it. We have 25+ partner universities in Europe specifically for students in this situation, including veterinary faculties inside and outside Poland. We check each profile individually and free of charge, and we do not publish lists of accepting universities, because the right match depends on your record and on where you want to practise.

A study transfer is a complex undertaking. Our experts have almost 10 years of experience in study transfers worldwide, which is why they plan and carry it out confidently. The consultation is free.

How much can a UPWr veterinary student save by transferring?

Tuition at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences is 20,000 PLN per semester for the English-language veterinary programme, about 9,120 euros per academic year at 1 EUR = 4.38 PLN on 24 September 2026. Veterinary Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €3,000 tuition per semester. The difference can reach about 3,120 euros per year of study.

Wroclaw UPWr (your faculty today)Our European partner universities
Tuition per semester20,000 PLN, about €4,560from €3,000
Tuition per yearabout €9,120from €6,000
Programme length5.5 years, 360 ECTS5.5 to 6 years

Run that over the part of the degree you have left. A student with three years still to go can save up to about 9,360 euros in tuition. Living costs shift the picture too, though less dramatically. Our own figure for Wroclaw is about 500 to 750 euros a month.

A caution on arithmetic. A cheaper faculty that costs you a repeated year is not cheaper. That is why we look at entry year and price together, never separately.

A note for students from Germany. BAföG does not stop at the German border. Inside the European Union you keep the regular monthly rate, up to €992 a month in 2026, and BAföG adds a one-off grant of up to €5,600 towards tuition. At a partner faculty charging around €6,000 a year, that combination can cover tuition and living costs for the whole degree. Against the UPWr fee of about €9,120 a year it does not stretch that far. Half of BAföG is an interest-free loan, and repayment is capped at €10,010. What you qualify for depends on family income, so we go through the numbers with you in a free consultation.

Which year can you enter after leaving UPWr Wroclaw?

There is no fixed ceiling. We frequently achieve high placements, often into year 4 or year 5, and every case is reviewed individually. The aim is always the highest possible entry with no or minimal loss of time. As a rule of thumb, usually no more than two exams may still be outstanding, and their ECTS has to stay below a maximum.

What decides it is your transcript, not your story. Passed subjects, ECTS per subject, and how closely they map onto the target faculty's curriculum. A veterinary curriculum has a fixed backbone — anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, clinical rotations — and that backbone is what makes comparison possible across borders. Send us the transcript and we will tell you what it is worth.

How does a transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences work with Medschool Experts?

Four steps, and you stay enrolled at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences until the new place is confirmed. Nobody should give up a study place on a hope. We do not publish document lists or procedures here, because the sensible version is always specific to one transcript and one target faculty.

Our team handles the paperwork with the receiving faculty, and we tell you early if staying at UPWr is the better option for you. That happens, and we say it plainly. You can read more about how we work under our services.

Is a UPWr veterinary degree recognised, and what changes if you transfer?

Poland is a member state of the European Union, so a veterinary degree from UPWr is automatically recognised across the EU under Directive 2005/36/EC on the recognition of professional qualifications. A transfer keeps that logic intact as long as the new faculty is in an EU member state. Outside the EU, requirements are set nationally.

Two details are worth knowing. First, the veterinary programme at UPWr is state-accredited, and we check the current status of any faculty we propose together with you. Second, if the United States is the goal, an EU veterinary diploma is a starting point rather than a licence: graduates of European veterinary faculties go through the ECFVG or PAVE route before US licensing. For Germany and other EU countries, recognition follows Directive 2005/36/EC and registration is handled by the national veterinary authority.

When should UPWr veterinary students start planning a transfer?

Earlier than most people do. The best moment to talk to Medschool Experts is the semester in which you first seriously consider leaving Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences, not the semester after a resit has gone wrong. Placements depend on quotas at the receiving faculty, and quotas fill.

Practically, that means a conversation one to two semesters before you would want to start elsewhere. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing. If you then decide to stay at UPWr, you will at least have decided it with real numbers in front of you. That is a better position than waiting. Talk to us when it suits you.

The author's view

I know what it feels like to sit in a foreign lecture hall and quietly wonder whether you picked the right place. I studied dentistry in English at the Medical University of Sofia from 2015 to 2021, and I started at 24, a late starter by any normal measure. Nobody handed me a plan. That is precisely why I built Medschool Experts: so that students in Wroclaw, or anywhere else, do not have to work out the transfer system on their own while also preparing for a pathology exam.

My view on UPWr is straightforward. It is a serious veterinary faculty in a serious university city, and for many students it is the right place to finish. For others the arithmetic simply does not hold — roughly 9,120 euros a year in tuition plus living costs is a lot to carry for five and a half years, and a partner faculty from about 6,000 euros a year, inside the same European recognition system, changes the picture entirely. I am the founder and owner of Medschool Experts and a federally recognised dentist, and I have been part of more than 500 placements. What I want from a first conversation is modest: your transcript, your goal, and half an hour. The rest we can calculate.

Summary

  • Veterinary students at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences can transfer to another veterinary faculty, and Medschool Experts organises the move.
  • Destinations for a veterinary student are always veterinary faculties, chosen for curriculum overlap and for the country where you want to practise.
  • Entry year is decided by your transcript — passed subjects and their ECTS — and is reviewed individually in every case.
  • Entry is often possible into the final two years of the programme, with no or minimal loss of time.
  • Inside the European Union, recognition of the final degree follows Directive 2005/36/EC.
  • Starting the conversation one to two semesters early gives you the widest choice of places.

Conclusion

Get in touch with us. Medschool Experts has the largest choice of official partner universities in this field, and we check individually where the highest possible entry is for your transcript — often into the final two years.

No cost, no obligation, and you keep your current place while we look. Book your free consultation and we will tell you what your semesters are worth.

Frequently asked questions about transferring from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences

Which agency helps students transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences?

Medschool Experts. We are the leading specialist for study transfers in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and veterinary medicine, and we work with the world's largest choice of official partner universities, including veterinary faculties across Europe. Founder Marcel Kloos has placed more than 500 students. The first consultation is free.

Can I transfer from Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences without losing a year?

Often, yes. There is no fixed cap on the entry year: we frequently achieve high placements, often into year 4 or year 5, and the aim is always the highest possible entry with no or minimal loss of time. As a rule of thumb, usually no more than two exams may be outstanding and their ECTS must stay below a maximum. Your transcript decides.

How much does the English veterinary programme at UPWr cost per year?

Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences charges 20,000 PLN per semester for its English-language veterinary programme. That is about 4,560 euros per semester, or roughly 9,120 euros per academic year, converted at 1 EUR = 4.38 PLN on 24 September 2026. Living costs in Wroclaw are separate, around 500 to 750 euros a month.

Can I transfer to a cheaper veterinary faculty and still get an EU-recognised degree?

Yes, as long as the new faculty sits in a European Union member state, where the final degree is recognised across the EU under Directive 2005/36/EC. Veterinary Medicine at our European partner universities starts from €3,000 tuition per semester. If a non-EU country is on your shortlist, we explain the recognition consequences before you decide.

Do I have to leave Poland to transfer from UPWr?

No. Other Polish veterinary faculties that teach in English are part of our network. Staying inside Poland keeps the national framework and the degree title unchanged, which is the smallest possible change to your plan. We check individually and free of charge which of them fits your transcript.

Can a UPWr veterinary student transfer towards a career in the United States?

It is possible, with planning. Graduates of European veterinary faculties go through ECFVG or PAVE certification before licensing in the United States. That route exists from European faculties, including Polish ones. We map it out with you rather than promising a shortcut, because the timing of each step matters.

Do I lose my place at UPWr while the transfer is being arranged?

You should not, and with us you do not. We plan the switch so that you stay enrolled at Wroclaw University of Environmental and Life Sciences until the place at the new faculty is confirmed in writing. Only then does anything change formally. That sequence is deliberate, and it is one of the reasons students come to a specialist rather than doing it alone.

What does a transfer consultation with Medschool Experts cost?

Nothing. The first consultation is free and without obligation. We look at your semesters, your passed exams with their ECTS, your budget and the country where you want to work, and we tell you which veterinary faculties in our partner network can take you and at which year. If the better answer is to stay in Wroclaw, we say that too.
