Is a transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University possible in 2026?
Yes. A transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (KRSU) in Bishkek to a medical university in Europe is possible in 2026. Medschool Experts compares the KRSU transcript with the curriculum of our European partner universities, plans the application and carries out the transfer. Students who passed most of their exams often continue in a higher year.
Quick answer
Students of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in Bishkek can move to an English-taught medicine programme in Europe in 2026. Medschool Experts checks the KRSU transcript and syllabi, finds a partner university with a matching curriculum and handles the application. Tuition starts from €1,750 per semester. The first consultation is free.
KRSU is an interstate university founded in 1993 by Kyrgyzstan and Russia, and its Medical Faculty opened on 15 June 1994. Indian students have studied there in English since 2015. The programme follows a six-year rhythm with exam sessions in winter and summer, which gives two natural windows for a move.

One limitation belongs at the top. Places for transfer students depend on how many students a partner faculty has in each year, and those numbers change every semester. A case that fits in March can look different in August.
Failed exams or a whole year at KRSU Bishkek: what now?
Failing exams at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University does not end a medical career in 2026. If a KRSU student has failed a session or has to repeat a year, Medschool Experts checks whether the passed subjects can be credited at a European partner university. Usually no more than two exams may still be open.
Most students who write to us after a failed session at KRSU did not lack ability. They lost rhythm. One retake turned into two, the next session came, and suddenly a year was at risk. Others studied well in English and then ran into a wall when histories had to be taken in Russian on the ward.
The first step is calm. Collect the transcript, note which exams are open and how many retake attempts remain. Do not withdraw before the transfer is planned. A student who is still enrolled has more options than one who has already left.
Each case is checked on its own. Faculties often place transfer students into a higher year, but the open exams and their credits must stay below a maximum that the receiving faculty sets.
Why do students consider a transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University?
Students at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University consider a transfer in 2026 for personal reasons: budget, the language on the wards, the exam rhythm or a career goal in Europe, the USA, the UK or the Gulf. Medschool Experts sees the same five motives in almost every consultation with KRSU students.
- Budget. Tuition at KRSU, flights home and a rent in Bishkek add up. Some families prefer a European programme with a predictable semester fee in euros.
- Language in the clinical years. Lectures run in English, but patients in Bishkek speak Russian or Kyrgyz. For some students this becomes the main hurdle from the third year on.
- Exam rhythm. Two dense sessions a year suit some people and break others. A different structure can be the better fit.
- Career goal. Students who want to work in Europe, the UK, the USA or the Gulf often want a degree from an EU university with ECTS credits.
- Distance and family. Bishkek is a long way from home for most. Closer to family can matter after a hard year.
None of these reasons says anything against the university. They describe the fit between one student and one place at one point in life.
A note for students from India
In 2021, India's National Medical Commission set out in the Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 that the whole course, training and internship must be completed at the same foreign institution for the Indian licence. A transfer from KRSU therefore suits students whose career goal lies in Europe, the UK, the USA or the Gulf. We check every Indian case individually in the free consultation.
How are credits from the KRSU Medical Faculty recognised in Europe?
Credits from the Medical Faculty of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University are recognised course by course in 2026. A European partner university compares the KRSU transcript and the syllabi with its own curriculum, subject by subject and hour by hour. Medschool Experts prepares this comparison so the faculty can decide quickly.
KRSU counts study load in hours and credit units of the Russian-Kyrgyz model, not in ECTS. That is no obstacle. The receiving faculty converts by contact hours and content: anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry and the clinical subjects are checked against their own modules. In the European system one academic year equals 60 ECTS credits.
Three documents carry the decision: an official transcript with hours per subject, the syllabi (course descriptions) of every passed subject, and proof of enrolment. Translations and legalisation depend on the country. Missing syllabi are the most common delay we see.
If a subject at KRSU had fewer hours than the European module, the faculty may ask for a bridging exam. That is normal and rarely costs a full year.
Which universities accept transfer students from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University?
Which university accepts a transfer student from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University in 2026 is decided case by case. Medschool Experts works with partner universities in Europe that take transfer students for exactly this situation. We do not publish lists, because capacities in each year change every semester.
A study transfer is a complex undertaking. Our experts have almost ten years of experience in study transfers worldwide, which is why they plan and carry it out with confidence. The consultation is free.
What counts in the match is the curriculum, the year you can enter, the language of instruction and your later career goal. A student aiming for the USMLE needs a different fit than one who wants to stay in the EU.
What does a European partner university cost compared with KRSU in 2026?
Tuition at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is about USD 4,000–5,500 per year in 2026. English-taught Medicine and Dentistry at our European partner universities start from €1,750 per semester, Pharmacy from €1,500 and Veterinary Medicine from €3,000. Medschool Experts shows the full cost picture in the free consultation.
| Option | Tuition per semester | Tuition per year |
|---|---|---|
| Staying at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University (Medicine) | about USD 2,000–2,750 | about USD 4,000–5,500 (≈ €3,400–4,700) |
| European partner university, Medicine or Dentistry (English-taught) | from €1,750 | from €3,500 |
| European partner university, Pharmacy (English-taught) | from €1,500 | from €3,000 |
| European partner university, Veterinary Medicine (English-taught) | from €3,000 | from €6,000 |
Living costs in Bishkek run at roughly €200–400 a month. In many European university towns on our list they are higher, so the decision is about the whole budget, not only tuition. A year saved by a good credit transfer usually outweighs any difference in rent.
Can I transfer from KRSU to Europe without losing a year?
A transfer from KRSU to Europe without losing a year is possible in many cases in 2026. Medschool Experts applies to partner faculties that place transfer students into a higher year when the KRSU credits allow it. The rule of thumb: no more than two exams open, and their credits below the faculty's maximum.
Timing matters as much as grades. A student who contacts us in February has time for documents and a start in the next academic year. A student who writes in late August often has to aim for the following semester.
Sometimes one subject has to be repeated. That is not a lost year. It is a semester with a lighter load and a clear plan.

Book a Free Transfer ConsultationWhat does Kyrgyzstan's 2026 accreditation review mean for KRSU students?
In 2026 Kyrgyzstan tightened the rules for medical universities: institutions without state accreditation may no longer enrol new students. Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is not among the institutions named in the restrictions published in July 2026 and continues to teach medicine. Students who want an EU degree look at a transfer.
In May 2026 the Cabinet of Ministers amended the accreditation procedure. Universities that fail state accreditation may only let current students graduate in the running year, and remaining students have to move to other licensed institutions. By July 2026, around 20 universities in the country were affected by these restrictions.
For KRSU students this is mostly a question of perspective, not of urgency. We hear it in consultations: the news made many families think about where the degree should lead.
How does an MBBS transfer from KRSU compare with transfer rules in the EU, the UK and the USA?
An MBBS transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University fits best into the European system in 2026, because EU faculties compare credits course by course and convert hours into ECTS. In the UK and the USA, direct transfers into medical schools are rare. Medschool Experts therefore plans KRSU transfers towards European partner universities.
European Union. Directive 2005/36/EC, amended by Directive 2013/55/EU, sets basic medical training at a minimum of five years, which can also be expressed in ECTS, and at least 5,500 hours of theory and practice. One academic year counts 60 ECTS, so faculties can map earlier study fairly precisely.
United Kingdom. UK medical schools seldom take transfer students into later years. Doctors with a degree from abroad usually enter through a licensing assessment with the General Medical Council after graduation.
United States. US medical schools almost never accept transfers from abroad. International graduates go through ECFMG certification, which includes USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK, and then apply for residency.
Can I continue from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University towards the USMLE, the UK or the Gulf?
Yes. Students from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University who aim for the USA, the UK or the Gulf in 2026 can continue at a European partner university that prepares for these routes. Several of our partner universities offer very strong USMLE preparation, some with pass rates of up to 100 % in the last two years.
For the USA, the degree must come from a school whose graduates are eligible for ECFMG certification, and students sit USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK. For the UK, graduates take the licensing assessment of the General Medical Council. Gulf states license doctors through their own national exams and look closely at the degree and internship.
We ask about the goal in the first conversation. It changes which faculty fits.
How does a transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University work with Medschool Experts, step by step?
A transfer from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University with Medschool Experts runs in six steps and takes 4 to 7 months in 2026: free consultation, documents, course comparison, application with credit recognition, visa and housing, and the start in Europe. The KRSU student stays enrolled until the new place is confirmed.
- Free consultation. We look at the KRSU transcript, open exams and your career goal.
- Documents. Official transcript with hours, syllabi of all passed subjects, proof of enrolment, passport.
- Course comparison. We map the KRSU subjects against the curriculum of suitable partner universities.
- Application and credits. We submit the file; the faculty decides on the year of entry and any bridging exams.
- Visa and housing. We guide you through the student visa and the first accommodation.

Most delays come from step two. Syllabi from earlier years take time to request in Bishkek, so start early.
The author's view
Indian students began studying medicine in English at KRSU in 2015. That was the year I started dentistry in Sofia, at 24, older than almost everyone in my group. I remember how much of the first years was about rhythm: sessions, retakes, the next session. When students from Bishkek send me their transcripts, I recognise that rhythm immediately.
In Sofia I saw classmates who did very well in English lectures and then struggled in the clinic, because the patient in front of them spoke only Bulgarian. They were not weaker students. The language simply moved from the textbook to the bedside. KRSU students describe the same moment with Russian. It is one of the most common reasons I hear, and it says more about fit than about talent.
My advice is plain. Do not leave in a hurry, and do not stay out of fear. Get your transcript and syllabi together, let someone compare them properly, and then decide. A transfer done with a plan has saved many careers I have followed since.
