The Medical School of the University of Pécs has been training English- and German-speaking students for decades. The curriculum follows the Hungarian model: a pre-clinical phase with rigorosa, clinical semesters at the Pécs University Clinical Centre, a thesis and a fully practical sixth year.

How you are assessed in Pécs

Semester exams

Every subject ends with a written, oral or practical exam, graded from 1 to 5.

Rigorosa

Comprehensive exams in anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and other core subjects.

Thesis

A supervised research thesis that you defend before graduation.

After the internship year you receive the Doctor medicinae universae diploma.

FAQ

Questions about the curriculum in Pécs

Are the English and German programmes different?

The subjects and exams are structured the same way; only the language of instruction differs. In both programmes you learn Hungarian for patient contact.

When do I write my thesis?

Most students start during the clinical phase and submit it before the sixth year. You choose the topic at a clinic or institute of the faculty.

Is dentistry also offered?

Yes, dentistry takes five years and shares the medical foundations with medicine, followed by the dental subjects with treatment courses.
