MBBS in Europe for Indian Students

MBBS in Europe for Indian students: a 6-year English-medium medical degree at state universities, tuition from 3,500 € a year, no donation and a clear way back to India through FMGE or NExT.

When Indian families think of MBBS abroad, they often think of Russia, China or the Philippines first. Europe is closer than it looks. In south-eastern Europe a full medical degree in English costs between 3,500 € and 12,000 € a year, you study at state universities with their own teaching hospitals, and you live in small, safe university cities. This guide explains how MBBS in Europe for Indian students works, what it costs and what you should check before you apply.

In Europe the degree is not called MBBS. You graduate as a Doctor of Medicine (MD) after six years of study straight after Class 12. It is the same first medical qualification as the MBBS in India, and it is the degree you take into FMGE or NExT.

How studying medicine in Europe is organised

The first two years cover the basic sciences: anatomy, histology, biochemistry and physiology. Years three to five bring you into the hospital with internal medicine, surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology and the smaller subjects. The sixth year is spent in clinical rotations. Groups are small, often 10 to 15 students at the bedside, and you are examined orally in many subjects. That is hard at first and a real advantage later, because you learn to explain medicine out loud.

Admission to MBBS in Europe for Indian students

  • Class 12 with physics, chemistry and biology, at least 50% in these subjects
  • NEET-UG qualification for your later registration in India

  • Apostilled and translated documents, which we prepare with you
  • Several of our partner universities admit you without an entrance exam

Student visa and life in Europe

After the admission letter you apply for a national student visa at the embassy responsible for India, usually in New Delhi. You need the admission letter, proof of accommodation, proof of funds and health insurance. We prepare the file with you and tell you early which appointments to book. On site you receive a residence permit that is renewed every year. Vegetarian food, Indian groceries and a small Indian community are available in every city on this page, and the rest you will cook yourself faster than you think.

Is MBBS in Europe valid in India?
