Study Transfer in Serbia: from Belgrade, Novi Sad or Kragujevac to a New Location
28.08.2026
Which Medical Faculties Are There in Serbia?
- University of Niš, Faculty of Medicine — our partner location, human medicine in English, own university hospital, 6,000 EUR per academic year (1,500 EUR per quarter). To the location article.
- University of Novi Sad — human medicine in English, 7,000 EUR per academic year. To the location article.
- University of Kragujevac — human medicine and pharmacy in English, 6,000 EUR per academic year. To the location article.
- University of Belgrade — the largest and most prestigious medical faculty in the country.
Admission everywhere follows a selection process in biology and chemistry, not the school-leaving grade. All locations lead to an MD degree after six years and 360 ECTS.
Why Do Students Transfer Within or From Serbia?
The Examination Pace Does Not Fit
Those who fail a subject often cannot complete the academic year. Instead of losing a year, it is often possible to continue studying directly at another location.
The City or Environment Does Not Fit
Belgrade is a large city, Kragujevac and Niš are more compact, Novi Sad is in between. Those who find that size, costs or supervision density do not suit them often find the better solution in a nearby city.
Something Has Changed Personally or Financially
That too is a legitimate reason for a location change — and no reason to abandon the degree.
How Does the Study Transfer Work?
- Review documents. Transcript of Records with ECTS and grades plus enrolment certificate. Free and non-binding.
- Determine target year. Matching against the curriculum of the target university before anything is submitted.
- Reserve a place. Places in higher years are allocated upon receipt of complete documents.
- Recognition procedure. The target university formally recognises credits; we assist with translations and notarisation.
- Enrol and continue studying. Deregistration from the previous institution is the final step.

Where Can You Transfer To?
University of Niš (Serbia) — Transfer Within the Country
Large state university with its own university hospital, human medicine in English, extensive clinical training, clear examination structure. 1,500 EUR per quarter, i.e. 6,000 EUR per academic year — one of the few locations with quarterly payment. Since the country remains the same, the residence permit and formalities are simplest here. To the location article.
University of East Sarajevo, Faculty of Medicine Foča (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
One of our core locations, for which we hold representation in German-speaking countries. State faculty with its own university hospital, human and dental medicine in English, listed in ANABIN, EU-compliant accreditation until 2033. 3,500 EUR per academic year, starting in November, practical year optionally completed entirely at a German teaching hospital. The most affordable location in the entire network and the obvious choice for dentistry. Assessments here are typically very high — transfer students generally enter a high year of study. To the Foča study guide.
MediCampus Europeo, Malta
Campus in Il-Furjana near Valletta, human medicine in English, Maltese MFHEA licence, English as official language. Transfer from the second year onwards, 14,500 EUR per year with single payment, starting in October. To the Valletta location article.

How High the Assessment Turns Out Depends on the Individual Case
All paths mentioned here are designed to give you the highest possible year placement through us — without or with minimal loss of time. However, this only becomes binding after your documents have been reviewed. As a rule of thumb: usually no more than two exams may be outstanding, whose ECTS credits must not exceed a certain upper limit, for a transfer to the next higher year to be possible. What is feasible in your case is clarified in the free consultation.
What the Transfer Means Financially
The Serbian locations cost 6,000 to 7,000 EUR per academic year. A transfer to Foča reduces the fee to 3,500 EUR per year — a difference of around 10,000 to 14,000 EUR over four remaining years of study. Within Serbia the costs remain roughly the same; here the gain is in saved study time and a better-fitting environment. Living costs at all mentioned locations are realistically 450 to 500 EUR per month. Our placement fee is success-based.
Why You Should Seek Advice as Early as Possible
- Places are limited and allocated upon receipt of complete documents.
- Deadlines are running: Foča starts in November, Malta in October, Niš admits quarterly.
- Being enrolled is the better starting position — hence the consultation before the next resit.
Reviewing your documents takes a few days and costs nothing. Book a free study consultation.
The author's view
For me, Serbia is one of the underrated study locations in Europe: good clinics, committed teaching, fair prices. We do not work with several universities there by coincidence.
And precisely because of that I say: a location change within Serbia is rarely a big step, but often the decisive one. Those who find it does not fit should not sit out a year — a transfer is a location decision, not a capitulation.
Conclusion
- From Belgrade, Novi Sad and Kragujevac, a transfer to Niš, Foča or Malta is possible.
- Transfer within Serbia is formally the simplest, because country and residence permit remain the same.
- Passed subjects are transferable; those who plan in time lose no academic year.
- Initial consultation and document review are free; the fee is success-based.
Serbia is a strong location — but no location suits everyone. What matters is how early you get in touch.
