Study Transfer from Armenia: from Yerevan and Vanadzor to Europe
01.09.2026
From which universities do we facilitate transfers?
From all Armenian universities with English-language medical programs: YSMU Yerevan, Yerevan Haybusak University, University of Traditional Medicine, Armenian Medical Institute, Saint Tereza Medical University, and Mkhitar Gosh in Vanadzor. The complete overview with tuition fees is in the article Studying Medicine in Armenia.
Why students from Armenia transfer to Europe
Language in the clinical phase
Classes are in English, but the clinical everyday life runs in Armenian. Those who notice they are only observing at the bedside lose learning time exactly where it matters most.
Accreditation is a case-by-case matter
Armenia has no accreditation agency of its own recognized by the World Federation for Medical Education. Those who want to know how their university is listed internationally must check this individually — in the World Directory of Medical Schools and in ANABIN. We look up both for you in the initial consultation.
The recognition pathway is regulated
Armenia is not an EU member and remains a third country. Since the reform of March 2026 this is no longer a disadvantage: from November 1, 2026, the oral knowledge examination under Section 3 of the Federal Medical Licensing Act serves as the standard route to nationwide licensing. Details in the article Approbation and Recognition.
How we handle a transfer from Armenia
We deliberately do not publish checklists or dates on this page. What a faculty wants to see differs from university to university and changes from one intake to the next, and no two transfers look alike — a list written today would only send you chasing the wrong things.
All we need to begin is your profile: where you are studying, how far you have come, and which countries you could picture yourself in. We then check individually at which university, in which country, we can place you — and where we can get you in on a timeline you can genuinely plan around. Because we work with the largest network of official partner universities for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine, that is usually a choice between several options rather than a single one.
And because you are continuing rather than starting over, we always look for the highest possible entry point, so that the semesters you have already completed count. In many cases that means carrying on in one of the final two years of the programme.

Where can you transfer from Armenia?
University of East Sarajevo, Medical Faculty Foča (Bosnia and Herzegovina)
State faculty with its own university hospital, human medicine and dentistry in English, listed in ANABIN, EU-conformally accredited until 2033. 3,500 euros per academic year, practical year optionally completed entirely at a German teaching hospital. Students coming from Armenia typically reach a very high entry point here. To the Foča study guide.
MediCampus Europeo, Malta
EU location with English as official language. Campus in Il-Furjana near Valletta, Maltese MFHEA license, 14,500 euros per year with lump-sum payment. To the Valletta location article.
University of Niš, Faculty of Medicine (Serbia)
Large state university with its own university hospital, human medicine in English, 360 ECTS, degree MD. 1,500 euros per quarter, i.e. 6,000 euros per academic year. To the Niš location article.
The complete list of all numerus clausus-free options in Europe can be found in the study transfer article on Bulgaria.
Which of the three fits you best is not something you have to work out alone — that is exactly what the first conversation is for.
What the transfer means financially
Armenia is at 3,000 to 7,300 US dollars per academic year. Foča costs 3,500 euros, Niš 6,000 euros. Depending on the starting address, the transfer is therefore price-neutral — the gain lies in the degree, in English-language clinical operations, and in proximity to home. Our placement fee is success-based.
Why it is worth getting in touch early
- Places in the higher years are limited. The earlier we know your profile, the more options we can put in front of you.
- A transfer prepared calmly is the shorter one. Anyone who decides under time pressure usually has fewer universities to choose from.
- You lose nothing by asking. If we cannot place you well, we say so — that is more use to you than an expensive detour.
Looking at your situation costs you nothing. Book a free study consultation — by phone or video call, with your parents if you would like them there.
Author's Opinion
YSMU is a solid university — there is no disputing that. The question I ask everyone who contacts me from Yerevan is always the same: where do you want to work in the end?
If the answer is Germany, Austria, or Switzerland, the route via a European degree is simply shorter — and the earlier the transfer happens, the less study time it costs.
Summary
A transfer to Europe is possible from all six Armenian universities with an English-language medical programme, and what you have already completed comes with you. Foča at 3,500 euros and Niš at 6,000 euros per academic year sit in the same range as Armenia itself, so for most students the move is close to price-neutral — what changes is the degree, the language on the ward, and how close you are to home.
What you will not find on this page is a list of papers or dates. They differ by university and by intake, and the version printed here would be the wrong one by the time you needed it.
Send us your profile instead: where you study, how far you have come, and the countries that would work for you. We look at it individually and tell you at which university, in which country, we can place you and where we can get you in on a timeline you can rely on — from the largest network of official partner universities for medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing and veterinary medicine. For students transferring we always check the highest possible entry point, often into one of the final two years.
The first conversation is free and the fee is success-based: book a free study consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Study Transfer from Armenia
From which universities do you facilitate transfers?
From all six with English-language medical programs in Yerevan and Vanadzor.
Are my academic credits recognized in Europe?
Yes. We convert them to the ECTS system and match them against the curriculum of the target university.
Is my Armenian degree recognized in Germany?
Yes, via the oral knowledge examination. Armenia is not an EU member and remains a third country — since the reform of November 2026, the knowledge examination under Section 3 of the Federal Medical Licensing Act is the standard route, followed by nationwide licensing.
Do I need to be deregistered first?
No. The transfer is planned while you are still enrolled.
Which year of study can I enter?
That depends on your record so far and on the target university, so we check the highest possible entry point for you individually. In many cases a transfer leads into one of the final two years of the programme.
What do you need from me in order to check my options?
Your profile: where you are studying, how far you have got, and which countries would work for you. Which papers a particular faculty asks for differs and changes from year to year, so we tell you that individually once we know your situation — you do not need to gather anything in advance.
What does the consultation cost?
Nothing. The first conversation and the review of your profile are free; the fee is only due upon successful placement.
