The city as a place to study
Lefkoşa is Cyprus’s divided capital, and around the Cyprus International University campus a small student neighbourhood has developed: cafés, shared apartments at comparatively affordable prices, and a daily life that feels relaxed despite being in a large city. In summer, temperatures climb to just under 30°C, while winters with an average of 11 to 12°C stay mild – a real cold spell is almost unknown here.
The coast is about 25 kilometres to the north near Girne (Kyrenia), about 25 to 30 minutes by car – an afternoon at the beach is easily doable.
Ercan International Airport (ECN) is only about 20 minutes by car from campus. Connections via Istanbul are frequent, with many carriers serving the route daily, making onward travel from most countries convenient.
