AIMST University is accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC), the statutory body responsible for the accreditation of medical education under Malaysia’s Medical Act 1971, and its medical degree programme is listed in the Second Schedule of the Act, the recognition required for its graduates to register as doctors in Malaysia. The MMC was awarded WFME Recognition Status by the World Federation for Medical Education on 5 April 2023 for a period of ten years (valid until April 2033) — the basis for the ECFMG’s “Recognized Accreditation Policy,” under which only graduates of programmes accredited by a WFME-recognised agency are eligible for ECFMG certification and, therefore, for the USMLE. AIMST University holds this accreditation and is authorised to award its degree on this basis.
