IU International University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1998 and is today the largest university in Germany, with more than 130,000 students from over 190 countries. It is a private, German state-accredited university with its headquarters in Erfurt. For anyone drawn to the healthcare sector beyond the classic medical degree, IU offers two subject areas that fit well: psychology with an applied and organisational focus, and healthcare management. All programmes listed here are taught 100 % in English, carry ECTS credits under the Bologna system and lead to a German bachelor's, master's or MBA degree.

• MBA in Organisational Psychology: On campus in Cologne, 18 months, 90 ECTS, intakes in October and April. You combine leadership and business strategy with psychological insight: organisational behaviour, communication, change and development methods, completed by a capstone project. Typical roles: change management consultant, workplace wellbeing specialist, organisational development analyst.
• MBA in Healthcare Management: On campus in Cologne, 18 months, 90 ECTS, intakes in October and April. Covers health systems, policy and financing models, healthcare operations and economic evaluation. Typical roles: healthcare administrator, healthcare consultant, health system specialist.
• B.Sc. Applied Psychology: Online, 180 ECTS, 3 years full-time with flexible part-time options, start at any time. Foundations of psychology plus social, developmental, cognitive and organisational psychology, counselling, conflict management, intercultural and positive psychology, with applied focus areas in business, healthcare, communication and media, and education.
• B.A. International Healthcare Management: Online, 180 ECTS, 3 years, start at any time. International health policy and global healthcare systems, with electives such as Medical Technology Industry, Financing and Investment, and Global Sourcing and Supply Management. Graduates work in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical technology, nursing and rehabilitation organisations.
• M.A. International Healthcare Management: Online, 60 or 120 ECTS, 2 to 4 semesters, start at any time. The management master's for the international health sector.
• M.Sc. Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Online, 60 or 120 ECTS. Work and organisational psychology in the age of digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

IU also runs a broad German-taught portfolio in health and social care, including Psychology, Health Psychology, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Physician Assistant, Nutritional Sciences, Health Management and Social Work, offered as distance learning or dual study at campuses across Germany.

The on-campus MBA runs for 18 months in Cologne: two semesters of core management modules and your specialisation in organisational psychology or healthcare management, followed by a capstone project in which you solve a real business problem. The online bachelor's programmes comprise 180 ECTS over six semesters in the full-time model, with part-time variants if you study alongside work. You begin with foundation modules, choose your electives and focus areas from the second half of the programme and finish with your bachelor's thesis. Classes are available live and on demand, and exams are taken online.

Bachelor's programmes require a higher-education entrance qualification such as A-levels, the IB Diploma or an equivalent school-leaving certificate. Master's and MBA programmes build on a completed bachelor's degree; the MBA route additionally values professional experience. All programmes are taught in English, so you show your English level as part of the application. There is no numerus clausus: your school grade does not decide whether you get a place.

The online bachelor's programmes start at 2,394 € per semester, the online master's programmes at 3,336 € per semester. The on-campus MBA programmes in Cologne cost 5,017 € per semester with semester payment, which adds up to 15,050 € for the full 18 months; with annual payment the total is 14,749 €. On campus there is a one-time registration fee of 1,500 € and a semester ticket for public transport of 226.80 € per semester.

Budget approx. 1,000 to 1,200 € per month for living costs in Cologne, depending mainly on your rent. Online students study from home and have no relocation costs at all.

IU is a German state-accredited university. Its degrees carry ECTS credits under the Bologna system, and the programmes are accredited through FIBAA. A German bachelor's, master's or MBA degree is recognised across the EU and in many countries worldwide, and it opens the door to further academic study.

The psychology programmes at IU have an applied and organisational focus: they qualify you for careers in human resources, consulting, organisational development, health promotion, communication and user research. Healthcare management graduates move into hospital and clinic administration, health insurers, pharmaceutical and medical technology companies and consultancies.
