Universidad Sudamericana is a private Paraguayan university founded in 2009, with its main seat in Luque near Asunción. It teaches medicine at two campuses right on the Brazilian border: in Pedro Juan Caballero, next to Ponta Porã in Mato Grosso do Sul, and in Salto del Guairá, next to Guaíra in Paraná.
The six-year programme is taught in Spanish. New students receive a free beginner Spanish course, and clinical training takes place at the university clinic and at hospitals of the Paraguayan social security institute (IPS) and the Ministry of Public Health.
